it sits perfectly flat (no reason why it wouldn't, it was carved from a solid block of wood).

Been quite a while since I made that thing, I think it took about four hours of uninterrupted hitting a chisel with a hammer until I had enough material out so that I could comfortably fit all the internals.

Thanks, I learned to not handwire a controller with soldi-core wire after four hours of sleep and five cups of coffee.

That's the artist I was listening to, Burial, iirc.

Not sure about how similar I look to him. At least I'm not bald yet.

The plate is custom made, a friendly fellow named Yoe on geekhack had it cut for me.

The case was cut from a solid block of wood.

Probably be better this here.

I'd imagine that going fine enough, only thing that could be a bit difficult would be the screw-mount standoffs, but that doesn't seem all too difficult either.

Kind of.

Though the only parts remaining from the original AEK are the keycaps and the switches.

Depends entirely on what form factor you want. They both have doubleshot keycaps, RGB and cherry switches. The pok3r also has a metal case, but I wouldn't consider that much of a plus, given that it's spray-painted and doesn't really add much more than weight to the keyboard.

I don't see how you're even having trouble choosing with two form factors as contrasting as these. Personally I'd go for the pok3r, but that's just because I prefer the form factor.

>that is some major autismo for a chinkboard
Tell me more about me and my autism

Beats me how it got clogged, maybe some random shit from the board I had previously desoldered? No idea really.

Adding to that, you'll obviously need a soldering iron. Other tools to manipulate wires and such are also recommendable, and if you have a good array of power tools at hand, that will make your life ten times easier depending on what you choose to work with.

Did you do a Matura in Switzerland? Because that's a requirement for the course, apart from the fact that you'll have to be living in Switzerland too. The course is just for people who plan to attend electrical engineering at the school after this one-year course.

>How do you manage to be one of the first posts in every thread
I think you're overestimating me there. I'm hardly among the first posts with that image that often, I just haven't taken any new pictures lately, so the pool of pictures that I post has gotten smaller.

Though I'm around here fairly often, mainly since shitposting in between doing whatever else is really easy, especially if you have a phone and there's wifi on the fucking bus.

It's what formerly was an AEK II

You can build one yourself

That would probably look better with the stock caps.

The magicforce keyboard (one from previous pictures) was about 50 bucks.
Teensy another 20.
Had wires and diodes, but both of those things are quite cheap anyway.
I used gaterons on this one, got them from massdrop for something around 24 bucks for 120 switches, price will vary depending on your choice and source of switches.

As for pic related:
20 bucks for the plate (the design was made by a guy in sweden who did a similar thing already) who was so friendly to have it laser cut and send it to me.
20 bucks teensy
Again wires and diodes.
14 bucks for the piece of wood that is now being shaped into the case.
Keycaps and switches were harvested from an old AEK II that I got for free.

I'm also planning to build a split keyboard (UHK style) with RGB underlighting, but I want to design my own PCB, plate and case for that, so I'm holding that off until I'm in my electrical engineering internship later this year and I have the money to afford all that jack.

For plate designs, there's this handy tool, though I didn't ever use it myself
