i have a bit of a different question to the usual sort. what the fuck do i do about having a relatively oval, almost featureless face? ive been fat and ive been pretty fucking thin, and even at my thinnest my face has remained soft and slight in features to the point where i almost look like i have the face of a woman if i wear my hair in certain ways. im sure this would be great if i was a tranny, but im not and as i get older this is presenting a bit of a problem with how i dress. i cannot find a haircut that balances my ideal length range with the maturity needed to fit my dress sense and age, not one that fits my face at least. all the models ive looked at have fairly angular jaws to offset their hair, and i look fucking terrible with short hair.

thriftfag here. summer acquisitions begin next pay day, at a bare minimum im getting a marks and spencer linen shirt just to see if theyre serviceable. i dont mind playing around with the collar if need be, though it would be nice if i could go see one in person and judge the collar size. beyond that it seems like i should be good for pants, ive enough wool and twill to do the job hopefully. it would be nice if i had something light to wear with lots of pocket room but if need be i can just carry my tweed jacket with all my shit in. anyone got any suggestions for things that might be worth grabbing before warm weather pumps prices up?

Even today it is still seen as above the usual fast fashion and it does cost more.

But generally its rep comes from years ago, but in saying that, even cheaper stores such as C&A also had their shit made in the UK.

new marks and spencers is 90% shite, but vintage marks and spencers, like a lot of vintage high street stuff, is worlds better than new stuff. that said they will still churn out a gem once in a blue moon, so theyre not to be totally overlooked. think pure new wool moon tweed jackets and the like for high street prices.

theyre also widely available because theyre so cheap and accessible, even more so than polo ralph lauren stuff and they often offer wider selections of materials than RL. you can go into marks and spencers anywhere right now and buy what is on paper a full trad wardrobe down to the waxed cotton jackets and moleskin pants, that cant be said of very many places. downside is material and construction can vary substantially, they do some nice looking items but they also offer low rise boxy cut "chinos" in 100% polyester...

personally im gonna try their shirts. shirts are high wear items and i dont know what i want from them yet, so im gonna buy a couple cheap ones for summer and splurge a bit on some nicer brands tattersalls for winter.

Idk anything about fashion but i do know a little about visual balance. Changing the shirt to grey, leaving out the hankerchif + chain, and changing the clip to something with a teeny bit of color and shape would make this great. Also, gloves look kinda wonky with this. I get what you where going for with the curved lines but the material hurts to look at. Leather ones with knuckle vents would be an improvement. Extra terrible advice: high heeled loafers. If youre wearing standard triangle dress shoes, it wont match the good boxy shape u have. Heels give it visual power.

Lurk more, take bits and pieces from inspo you like, less is more. A lot of the beauty in trad/ivy/prep looks come from balancing color between accessories, so if you were to go with the same accessory combination as in the photo, skip the vest + gloves, wear either a more contrasting coat with a pair of khakis or slacks in a traditional color/tone (unless you like the gth look), or a suit following the same color lines, it'd be a significantly better fit.
