if you don't dress like a trying hard faggot, never.
If you want to wear spikes, New Rock boots and similar shit, you are not old you are just autistic ,retarded and probably you were molested as a child .

There's always tons of older dudes at metal concerts, they look cool. Punk is a bit weird though if you're over 30. Same with most gothic looks. Basically leave high maintenance outfits to the youngins. Looking good when you're older is about a more casual appearance.

If you're asking this question, you're too old to be dressing metal.

Grew up goth listening to post-punk and dark wave. Now that I'm in my 30s I follow the Andrew Eldritch approach when he got older and started dressing casually.

Never. 22 and I'm working on a new jacket. best piece of advise I can give you though is to look at how your favorite artists dress.

>> No.15222805

Away from Voivod is proof you can age in metal/punk very well. The 40+ people I know in that world that do it best tend to go very basic: black jeans, band shirt, non-descript sneakers or boots... Tattoos help, not so much with the piercings, hair dye and accessories.

Above all, stay thin. There's so many atrocious choices older punk/metal/goth/rocker guys make as they get older, fashion-wise, but you can absolutely get away with cargo shorts, vans and a Motorhead tee if you're in SILVERFOX mode. Not so much if you're a schlubby Fuck with a goatee.

The only subculture I learned you can look mature with us goth because you can still make it work without tossing out too much of what makes it what it is. Punk and metal on the other hand, you can't sacrifice to much of that look without asking what the fuck is the point?

I remember seeing a goth chick or pagan whateverthefuck pull off goth without looking like a mall goth nonce of Halloween costume, or dominatrix and she looked beautiful.

OP here. so do i basically just stay /fit/ and get rid of the more larp-y stuff when i hit my 30s? sounds decent

>> No.15224045

>>15223968
/fit/ is huge, but honestly yeah, just actually live the lifestyle of the subculture (going to shows, playing in bands, participating in the community) and the rest will work itself out naturally. If you have no connection to that world beyond mp3s and a bunch of saved pictures of teenagers from the 80s to take fashion cues from, you'll just burn out. If you go to shows and all the people your age ditched the leathers and biker boots awhile back you'll just feel kind of silly still rocking that gear.

Oh for gawds sake, you are 19. You are still a kid. You are a sperm still. Stop worrying about this stupid shit and how you must dress in 10 years plus time and enjoy your youth.
