I honestly cannot accept how this board is slowly turning into shit

It was decent a year, or two years ago - but today it is almost no different from your fashion reddit boards

Ninjacore was the last good thing that was here and it united us, we had something of our own but last year's summerfags ruined it

We need to create our new /fa/-core that only we will be proudly wearing and rating in our daily WAYWT threads.

Everyone think about what new core/wave we will create and I will make a poll tommorow with your ideas as options to vote for.

I personally would go for something like pic related, "cowboy"-core.

There's a lot of variants on what they wear, with very dessy and casual styles. Plus it helps overalls get used more, which means it might catch on with skaters too, so who knows it could appeal to both dad core, skaters, and people who enjoy trains, smoke, and going fast In a fixed direction while polluting the skies with sweet freedom.

I was most active when the board first started and until maybe 2011. I check periodically and this is just my opinion based on some observation.

while it's still obviously shit now it was definitely worse when it was overrun by uncharismatic tripfags roughly 2-3 years ago. Although, there doesn't really seem to be anyone with esoteric knowledge left, at least from a cursory glance. Even with the tripfag storm there were still some serious conversations to be had about fashion.

imo there is absolutely nothing to be gained in terms of generative conversation by fabricating some kind of unifying 'new style'. Coordinating around novelty itself is just a spook. Pretending that having everyone explore one derivative style will actually generate anything is completely speculative and corny.

not legit cowboy or aldean cowboy or some mumford americana-esque cowboy

but hollywood cowboy. california cowboy. palm springs cowboy. tv cowboy. roy rodgers tom mix gene autry nudie cohn 30s-70s embroidery and embellishment, ranchwear, rodeowear, belt buckles, and boots. i'm not fucking with cowboy hats though. shit's a bridge too far and way too costumey. still haven't decided on fringe.

and yeah, hedi used some similar themes and elements because he's been mining the 1970s and there was a big country revival in the 1970s where it crossed over into rock.

and honestly, hedi's rhinestone rock cowboy resulted in some fantastic pieces that are orders of magnitude outside my price range but nevertheless fantastic.

Core/Wave/Uniform mode of thinking is not what is needed.

It promotes uncreativity and unoriginal outfits. You are basically turning yourself into a walking meme and limiting yourself to dressing for some trendy infograph telling who which specific items to wear. Which brands to suck off.

You want /fa/ to be great? The key is to instead learn about visual concepts. Concepts that are open ended in terms of application.

Just a few things off the top of my head regarding one topic:
>Color theory. Probably one of the more important ideas to think about.
The three parts of a color consist of:
>Hue: where the color resides on the color wheel. Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Violet, Orange
>Value: The lightness and darkness of a color. Note that value it the only one of these three that also applies to no color (Greyscale)
>Saturation: The intensity of a color. Not to be confused with value. A color can be light but still washed out/dull, and a dark color can still be vibrant.

There is more to it, including color interaction, color harmony, color interpretation and probably some more I am not thinking about. Do some research. I recommend the book Color by David Hornung. You can find it on /ic/ in the book threads if you ask. It explains a great deal.

I wish to write more. Color is just my strong suit. More topics to discuss can include:

Don't get me wrong, there are formulas and rules in fits but it's way better when you just look at alot of stuff and pick up on it naturally, I think making some kind of list or guide is just pointless because there's so much variance in compositions and it's really a case by case analysis in spotting what works / doesn't because of x y z

I think people who post about /fa/ being bad just need to move on and transcend, I understand because I was there a few years ago, but once you really just have your own thing going you realize there's a massive gap in the level of the collective here vs. people who actually got shit figured out, and it's really impossible for you to help ppl who are less experienced because yeah, stuff like this can only come from experience and time, you gotta have the self awareness to look back at old compositions of yours evaluate it with a new eye, etc.

I call it cozy-core it's a mix of herion-chic and norm core it's super cozy but with all high end designers mixing in sneakers as well.

Take the vintageness/your moms closetness of SLP or gucci and clean it up a bit add oversized cuts and mix in some high end designer sneakers or some rare New Balance or Nikes
