For anyone looking for fragrance suggestions, give as much information as possible about what you want. Helpful info could include gender, price range, climate/season, need (work/clubbing/etc.), notes/families you like/dislike, and other perfumes you've tried and liked/disliked.

>gender
I'm male, but I'll wear a feminine scent if I like it enough and think I can pull it off
>price range
<200 USD, but the cheaper the better
>climate/season
hot Southern summers or a year-rounder
>need
social occasions
>notes/families you like/dislike
just a few examples
like: patchouli and cardamom, light green florals like lilac, geranium, magnolia
dislike: dominant citruses
>other perfumes you've tried and liked/disliked.

Poorfag here who on the recommendation of /frag/ got Aqva Bvlgaria as well as on personal impulse Chergui Serge Lutens

I was told that Bvlgaria was really popular but I just don't see the appeal. Smells almost sour to me.
Is it just my unrefined palette? Personal taste/natural body stank?

The Lutens is right up my ally though. Would it be alright to wear for general use?

I legitimately doubt anyone could ever answer this:

But does anyone know of any fragrance still in production that smells like a dry cleaning place or smells aldehydic with metallic notes.

Another is something that smells like Tar. Without much else, so not Angel Men or anything of that nature.

Yes, Versace Signature is also called Versace pour Homme. I have both VS and Versace Man Eau Fraiche. Eau Fraiche has much more wood in its base. Eau d'orange verte is a nice, and not necessarily old man tier but the longevity is pretty weak. I'd say it's primarily a summer scent but could be made to work year round since it's going to be so light most of the time you're wearing it anyway. Definitely mature though. I have the Concentre version fwiw in case you are also considering that. I wouldn't call that "old man", but it isn't bright and youthful since it introduces basil and cedar, which also makes it more masculine than the original from what I've read.

The citrus element isn't as light smelling as with most other Hermes scents. It's not candied or cloying by any means, but it smells a little sweeter than orange is naturally (probably because Concentre is one of the few current Hermes frags Ellena and his characteristic deft touch didn't create)

Rate me

EDW Spring/Summer - Bulgari Aqva; I'm absolutely obsessed with nautical notes and this just smells amazing on a hot Chicago day.

EDW Fall/Winter - Burberry London; Coziest cologne under $100 hands down. Thick and manly with a sophisticated edge.

Special occasion Spring/Summer - Green Irish Tweed; probably my favorite cologne of all time, crisp and classy, very sophisticated scent, wonderfully refreshing. Great for the city.

Special occasion Fall/Winter - Tobacco Vanille; great longevity, smells warm, unique, and sublime, overpowers all other scents. A real alpha musk.

At one point I had a collection of ~25 scents that I'd built over the years, unfortunately it was lost during a move. A good chunk of them were basic scents that everyone has like ADG so no big deal, but I did have a few gems in there as well. RIP.

Emphasis on this statement. People strongly overestimate what a fragrance can do. It's good, it makes you more appealing. Smelling nice is great! It's not bad but it's babby's first cologne tier. Probably 4 out of every 10 guys at the bar/club/public venue will be wearing it.

If that sort of thing doesn't bother you then go for it, but imo it's a poor choice for a signature scent.

So I copped 30 ml of generic vetiveryl acetate / Molecule 03 on ebay. It's nice stuff to have on hand, if a little simple on its own. When I mix it with Iso E Super / Molecule 01, the result is like 2/3 of Encre Noire. Like Molecule 01, it works well as a modifier to other fragrances.

Normies will confuse the two fragrances, but any enthusiast can tell that they are obviously different. The main similarity is in the green herbal opening, with the most obvious differences being that GIT lacks any marine note and has a much richer feeling base. People who own both and claim that they are indistinguishable from one another are probably not the target audience for a $150+ parfum anyway.

I don't personally mind when someone mistakes my GIT for Cool Water or my Millesime Imperial for Sean John Unforgivable because I can tell the difference and it's nice that strangers are at least in the right ballpark / appreciate my fragrance.

If you can't smell the difference, Creed isn't meant for you. Some people are perfectly happy rolling around in a Hyundai Genesis, which is a fine budget facsimile of a luxury sedan. If you wear Creed just because you think it's "luxury" then go ahead but you're still a faggot.

however, Creed scents do smell better than their clone counterparts. for example you can text Aventus and IP2 but IP2 will 100% never smell like Aventus. Likewise, I've used SMW and Al-Wisam Day, and it'll never smell 100% like SMW. the clones are good substitutes if you're willing to compromise a "better blend" so to speak.

Mugler Cologne is a safe blind buy; it's soapy and lightly herbal and overall just very clean smelling. You'll also probably still use it once your tastes evolve and you get into higher-end fragrance, unlike some commonly recommended "starter" scents.

>>11393492
Blind buys are fine if you have an idea of what you like and if you do thorough research on your purchases. I blind buy everything and I've almost always been pleased with my selections. Example - Lalique White arrived today, copped off of ebay because some anon was discussing it last thread. I looked it up, saw thought it sounded like my kind of fragrance, and dropped $30 on a large bottle. It arrived today and I'm wearing it now. It's more or less exactly as I expected based on FG/BN reviews and my experiences with other Lalique fragrances. Once again I find myself very pleased with a blind-yet-informed purchase.

My friend just gave me half a bottle of this. I wore it on my wrists last night for about an hour before bed after I showered. Top notes just seemed like "synthetic freshness" for like 5 minutes, then I got a little bergamot, cardamom and some szichuan pepper, but still it's mostly just that weird "doing laundry near the ocean in the morning" smell. I was asleep for the middle notes but it's about 12 hours later and there's still a faint powdery scent. It's spicy and fresh. I'd usually avoid a fresh scent but this is the only cologne I have right now.

I like it actually. It's a good switch up Bleu de Chanel which is all I've really worn.

Thoughts on Kouros? I've heard a lot of hype and I feel from descriptions that I've read it's a good "fit" for me personally but I figured I'd consult the oracle before blind-buying.

Also I was hoping to get a good late spring/summer frag recommendation. Something moderately priced for everyday wear ($60-$80ish) on hot days, and maybe a little niche. I like marine scents, musk, citrus, sandalwood, amber, wildflowers, tea leaf, but I really hate the synthetic edge that so many marine frags have. I like to do one spray between my nipples after a shower but before I've put my shirt on. I feel like it gives me a nice mix of broad surface area, absorbing into my shirt, there is a lot of blood flow in the chest, plus your personal scent seems to congregate their (not body odor, but just your unique smell, pheromones or whatever). Also I have some hair on my chest so I think that helps too. I also don't like to smell strongly of fragrances at all, so I think doing one spray beneath all my clothing helps with that, keeping it subtle and all.

2-5 sprays on average, and for most 3-4. 1-2 to chest. 1 to back of neck, 1 to forearm and rub other to share. But really, follow these ground rules and you can spray anywhere you like: Hair holds on to topnotes longer and aids projection. Under clothes mutes projection and gives you nice wafts from under your collar all day. Avoid proximity to nose (front of neck/face) to avoid olfactory fatigue.

So I have been doing a bit of woodwork using cedar and really like the smell of it. Been saving my sawdust recently and think it might be cool to try to make a fragrance from the sawdust.

Looked at the diy link and it seems like purchasing a somewhat neutral "base" is a starting point. Any suggestions for a base that would go well with cedar?

Another thing is how should I get the cedar scent into a liquid? Maybe putting it in water and then press it coffee style? Then mix that with the base and dilute if necessary? Or is just putting the sawdust into the base a method?

23, athletic, need a good all-rounder for casual and business casual. I loved the test vial of Creed GIT I had and will probably buy a few more.

Right now I'm using Swiss Unlimited Energy. I like clean, fresh smells like GIT (also tried Burberry Weekend and liked that) and sportier ones like this but I'm disappointed with how short it lasts.

Main thing is nothing too similar to Acqua Di Gio because my stepdad and best friend both use it. Cool Water was recommended but I didn't care much for it. Also, if it helps, I tried and hated Acqua di Parma.

Kouros is one of those frags that will either force a woman into ovulation on the spot or make her move to the other end of the train car.

I'd say it's a VERY risky blind buy, highly advise sampling it first, maybe even wear it for a whole day and then decide. It's suitable as a summer fragrance.

>Dior Eau Sauvage Eau de Parfum
If I may niggle a bit, that is no fragrance with that name. Calling it that implies that it is Eau Sauvage in an EdP concentration, which is not the case. It's a unique fragrance called Eau Sauvage Parfum. I wouldn't even call it a flanker of the classic original as they don't even resemble each other, except in spirit. It is another attempt by Dior to cash in on the original using the "Sauvage" name and it just confuses people.

That said, ESP is a fantastic, rich, resinous fragrance and I love it and own a bottle. You are correct that it is somewhat linear, which is understandable as it is composed of only three notes. I prefer my frags more dynamic, but there is some development from the bergamot dominated opening to the vetiver middle and then myrrh taking over as it dries down. The three notes are so beautiful and well blended, I bought it after wearing it only a couple times.

Definitely skews more mature, and while I haven't tried it in the heat yet, I would guess summer wouldn't be its best showcase.

I tried A*men by Thierry Mugler and the burned rubber top notes (not even close to caramel) were so disgusting it discouraged me to even try the other male scents like Pure Malt. One of the worst scents I've ever tried.

I also tried Amouage Memoir, Myths and Reflection. I got a sample of Myths as well. I like the thick, complex oriental smell done right in contrary to Mugler's.
