Fashion goes in a cycle.

Are we ever going to go back to renaissance styles?

Is there a way to take parts of ancient styles and make them into modern fashion?

>> No.9891182

>>9891137
maybe parts but fashion isnt a circle, its more like a spring shape, it goes in loops but keeps moving forward.

Good analogy.

Still, any chance in ancient turned modern styles ever coming? Or is it just too costumey.

Grecian draping has really never completely disappeared from the design lexicon.

Oh, and to elaborate

I think that you could use some cuts on jackets that resemble renaissance doublets, as well as brocade and patterns in the cloth sorta like this pic

God I wish we could. Sincerely wish :(

This looks nice but i can't see any situation it would be appropriate to wear, except on a runway

>> No.9891335

>>9891137
Ponchos are taking on a similarity to the cloak in the picture, and a tunic would be an easy addition without seeming completely out of place. It would need good application, though. Something not so bawdy or formed/flaring as your pic.

A good modern tunic would just be any really long, drapey shirt with a loose belt strung about the waist. That would probably actually look pretty sweet with a poncho, too.

Brocade, damask, and jacquard aren't that unusual in contemporary fashion. Expensive, yes, but that's always been the case.

As for a doublet, plenty of designers make structured vests/waistcoats.

Sometimes I'm pretty jealous at women, they have a much broader wardrobe - they can wear such vests, they can wear big flamboyant hats, they have so many options

I don't think thats the case for men though, women have a lot more options

This could also work, it's very flamboyant though, and you would get some weird looks, but damn it looks good, throw on some monk straps or alike with a buckled shoe and boom

We as a board should turn these middle ages, renaissance, victiorian fashions and have them make a comeback.

We just have to work really hard on the designs and make something cool. No one has fucking brought this stuff into the mainstream yet.

This minus the half sleeves could easily be worn in the modern day.
The same for much of GOT clothing, if you modified it a little bit you could probably get away with it in the right setting.
