Welcome to the NEW /news/ general!
Spurred by the discussion in >>9811902 this general will be a place to discuss male fashion news, history of brands and new collections, as well as anything that inspired a designer (sources required).

The news in this general should primarily be about haute couture and any fashion should generally be able to be seen on the runway, however any and all news is appreciated.

Feel free to post links to interviews, collections and lookbooks, as well as articles concerning different designers and styles and your favorite collections.

Discussion could also include upcoming trends, which trends are good or bad, and which you might want to explore and why (posting inspiration or articles is a must).

Good sources that everyone should look at:
NowFashion
Dazed
Vogue

Kanye's 'Yeezy Season 1'

The show was pretty good, but he's my favorite musician and that's the main reason I watched.

The sense of style is interesting, to say the least. The idea of being minimalistic to a fault, maybe. A lot of the women are wearing nothing but underwear.
I like the fact that a lot of the models aren't too much taller than him, since I'm a manlet.

Hood by Air SS15
https://nowfashion.com/hood-by-air-ready-to-wear-spring-summer-2015-new-york-9966

I generally like HBA, contrary to some of the more vocal part of /fa/. I don't like it worn by people outside of the runway, which is interesting. I guess I like the fact that its streetwear for the runway. There's isn't really any situation that it could be worn in a good way in real life, generally.

I really like the designer, I love his attitude about it

Here's another interview, talks a little bit more about the history.

Because as much as /fa/ likes to whine about the state of the board and how there should be more actual discussion it would appear that even most of the complainers would rather just shitpost or at least aren't interested in contributing, sadly. Not to mention the majority of people on the board..

Basically all useful posts itt are by three different posters, which doesn't make for much discussion or posts

As much as I found Kanye's new collection to be HIGHLY derivative of other designer's work, I must admit the collection reflected Kanye's sense of style perfectly, it was completely him. And yeah, the smaller models helped the clothes feel more genuine in a way because they were portrayed on people other than your traditional tall white model.

If anyone hasn't seen it the lookbook, as a photographer myself, it is really an amazing series of photos that do way more than your standard studio shoot to portray the clothes in a fascinating way. And ass too.

My current wardrobe is too incoherent to incorporate her stuff i think atm, even if most of her stuff appears minimal/clean.

On a side note does anyone here curate their wardrobes/keep it simple? One of my goals but hard to do in practice cz i have to keep some work shirts and other stuff to dress "normally".

3rd Q anyone with experience with Lumen et Umbra? I think they were part of Carpe Diem at some point (correct me if i'm wrong) but beyond their items I don't know much history behind the label

>I found Kanye's new collection to be HIGHLY derivative of other designer's work
Yeah, ironic that Kanye (who is generally seen as a great original artist, for the most part) does take a lot of inspiration from a lot of other designers.
>I must admit the collection reflected Kanye's sense of style perfectly, it was completely him.
I can see Kanye and Kim wearing everything that was posted, so I feel that he utilized a part of the streetwear inspiration but realized that not everyone can dress that way, perhaps that not many can.

>Thoughts on Off White and Abloh in general?

I like Pyrex in a non-fuccboi way. Similar to HBA, there's not really any way that someone could wear it and not look like a fuckin retard. But as far as art, I think it shows an interesting part of street life. The very idea of Pyrex is interesting - take someone's clothes and add your twist. A lot of people do it.

I like Off White more, I feel like its more original and more wearable. There are some pieces that are useless, but I feel like it can do more for me.

Overall, I like Virgil Abloh, he's a pretty real guy and he's got an interesting take on clothing.

In the later stages of 1+1=3 a lot of people were involved in the label, including Issei Fujita (behind LEU), maybe the years 1999 onwards, probably through relations with Jun Hashimoto. I think he did a lot of the presentation work and was particularly interested in specific dye treatments and how they affected a fabrics texture. The label LEU initally were mainly poor imitated, and questionably fabricated carpe diem garments, it's a bit different now but not enough to really free it from "Oh LEU, that brand that came from Altieri"
