Everybody loves socks so let's have a thread about them.
>What kind of socks do you wear
>Wool, cotton or unholy polyester blend?
>W2C sick socks
>Etc

Anybody who wears shoes without socks is not welcome.

Are wool socks only good for winter or do they work in summer as well?
Are there any cheaper brands? Only one I know of is anonymousism

Thinner wool socks for summer are arguably better than cotton as wool removes sweat. Some quick googling mentioned stuff about increased evaporative cooling with wool socks but I don't really know.
And as always with wool, merino is better.

Where does /fa/ usually buy their socks from?
Any good stores online?

How come whenever I wear socks, my feet become drier? I thought that clothes were supposed to protect from the elements. It's like they've been in front of an aircon all day,

I use wool costco kirkland socks in 90% humidity 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I like them for the cushion and they don't get as soggy and damp as cotton, imo.

It's odd, I read through many men's articles recently including /fa/'s own info graphics, and it seems we've abandoned many previously established rules. Generally it was said that you should match the color of your sock to the color of your pants or jeans, to create a nice line to your shoes without being distracting. It was also said you should avoid overbearing designs, stripes, etc. Yet in this thread it's all the opposite.

>> No.9767923

>>9767913
the info graphics are probably old as shit, and /fa/ is different from 'manly' articles; we're all special snowflakes here.

>> No.9767949

>>9767923
True, but I do agree with matching socks to your pants or jeans. You figure that your shoes are probably already different than the color of your pants, so that's already a contrast people will notice. Why add even more distraction by wearing ridiculous socks that are bright or have awful designs?

The way I see it the socks matching pants rule is a definite must if you're wearing anything formal or semi-formal. In casual wear however, one can get a bit creative and have patterns of sorts as long as the socks aren't a drastically different colour/shade than the pants.
However, I've seen a few good fits where people had socks in contrasting colours to their pants and pulled it off superbly.

Also, sometimes I find that if I run out of socks that match my pants matching them when my shirt instead can work, especially if I'm wearing navy.

the best thing about socks that most people underestimate is that wool socks can be well made and sold for a rather cheap price by almost any company. the best socks i own are flecked wool from REI, but i also have hiking socks from Eddie Bauer that are dope, and then just wool socks in varying colors from places like Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Costco, J. Crew, and Nordstrom.

Look at socks everywhere you go and cop what you like when you see it. They're socks, it's not a huge loss if you buy a pair that doesn't work out, and more often then not they'll get the job done.

if we're talking about casual wear: matching socks to slacks is just a tip to being inoffensive, not a rule. same deal with belt/shoes

have fun with your clothes bro, done right socks are a great way to add a bit of personality
