Well, no, that's not literally all they do. Yeah they do the leather sneakers but that's not all they're about, it's just all theyre hyped about. (they also make the MIPs in black and dark brown, not just natural leather FYI)

but they also do their own weird Jap shoes. They make hairy-ass wallabees, monkey boots, some neat monk straps, a pretty solid lineup of non-sneakers. They also do other leather products like wallets/coin cases, eyeglass straps/cases, hell even tissue boxes. They've made a leather poncho, theyve done hats. It's a pretty large brand.


And they whole point of the sneaker/MIP series isn't "originality". The designer was tired of the idea of tossing old beat sneakers and wanted to create a product that people would want to hold onto even more as it aged. He used recognizable sneakers sillhouettes he liked so they'd be familiar to people. crying about unoriginality misses the point entirely. besides, tons of other high fashion sneakers are "unoriginal", but most have their merits in some way or another

Your designer shoes are even worse. Nike more than likely has a toyota-like production line in place which inspects the product and the tools at every stage of the production process. This allows for tolerance to get as low as possible, improving consistency and efficiency as there is less loss of material. Your small designer firms don't have that level of precision in their tolerance and you more than likely pay for loss of material on top of the exact same upcharge for exclusivity and branding. The only reasonable difference is that the material is better. But in all honesty you are paying even more for exclusivity, brand name, and production inefficiency.
