I'm interested in a boot like the one pictured (Loake hyde 1880, brown). Anyone owned this boot, or one like it? Can you justify spending 230 smackers (£) ($340, €321) on this particular piece, or do you have any other suggestions?

Feel free to post additional boot porn.

Ta muchly.

I own them and I like them. Very comfy after breaking them in and of course the quality that you can expect of a Loake shoe from the 1880 line.

Pic related, my Loake Hyde's as of a few minutes ago.

I've got brown leathers with a wingtip, myself. They're not a Loake Hyde and were about half of what you're looking to pay on those, but guy on a budget, blah blah blah. They're still the most I've spent on a pair of shoes thus far in my life, and I certainly have no regrets about the impulse buy. They look great, they feel great. I'd say as long as you can afford the buy, go for it.

Bump. I'm looking for something similar, someone casual that I can wear in the office too. A chukka maybe?

How much did the resole cost? Did Alden do it or a local shop?

Allen Edmonds is a bit out of your price range but they have some good dress boots. The Daltons are a favorite and you can find them on ebay for sub $200 if you don't mind used.

Something like Florsheim is certainly a step down in quality but more your speed. I don't know if you specifically want boots, but if your looking for something business but different/slightly casual look into monkstraps or some classic brogues.

I have the C&J northcotes and Thom Browne longwing boots, both are excellent (TB is made by Sanders).

But they're both a lot more expensive than the Loakes.

Loakes still have a good reputation and being welted boots as long as you polish on a regular basis, water proof them regularly, they would last you for years.

I got a local cobbler to do it, cost about $150, full leather heel and sole, vibram outer sole.
