street goth is an interesting movement only due to context. It takes on the basic aspects that existed in goth ninja but goth ninja was more about making your own clothes and not being walking billboards of consumerist culture (i.e. wearing recognisable brands). Goth ninja was a counter culture.

While street goth still plays in that monochromatic field, still places an emphasis on playing with silhouettes and using drape but has a strong focus on brands and more tech-related materials. It has taken the shell of goth ninja but has purposely removed the values associated with goth ninja making it a counter culture of a counter culture. It is the other side of the pendulum swing of values but also makes it more accessible to the general population in the form of heath goth(similar brand usage but more influenced by broader fashion trends).

Both styles are interesting because they are tongue on cheek taken seriously. There is a style of wearing parody adidas and nike brands but is not consistent with everyone. There are some who will claim to stick with brands ironically and there are some who wear the brands seriously because they like the aesthetic. So there is also an aspect of humour that can be hidden or not there at all and can be seen as a comment on our current society and fashion trends.
