Jk what's up, my hair are in under hand flat twists and currently protective styling.

Next goal is braiding and then crocheting for some Lion mane type shit.

I use bed head conditioner and sometimes a basic oil to seal when I comb between twists but over all I don't use product much.

Yeah so I am first responder.

The absolute laziest way to grow your hair are two strand twists. Literally keep your hair in twists while keeping it moisturizer and clipping your ends and you'll retain growth.

I got to shoulder length and that's with a lot of breakage (I never trimmed and was reckless with my combing)

i'm growing mine, and i want to slick down the sides and get a faux hawk thing going, but i can't get the sides to lat flat or stay down at all, and I'm considering just cutting it or buzzing it, but that would defeat the purpose, and eventually it will be long enough that I can pin it down or pull it back, and i'll never reach that point if I keep cutting it out of frustration (which is what I usually do) so yeah.

Whats a haircut that will still allow me to hireable by white people. I had cornrows nearly my entire life and cut it all off for a standard cut a year before graduation. see if you can find something on curly nikki, but loose curls on top (which means your hair needs to be long) and a short crop on the sides should do the trick

Hey, I'm here.

Whenever I washed my hair (max twice a week), I just styled my hair the way I wanted to in the shower cabin. After that, I let it 'air dry' as much as possible. I barely used a towel to dry my hair, maybe 'dapped' it gently. Rubbing a towel through your hair causes frizz.

Don't really remember using products at this point, apart from a mild shampoo that doesn't strip your hair's natural oils. I used this shampoo every 6 washes or something like that.

Also, my hair looked messy from the side tbh, maybe because I didn't want a barber to fuck up my progress. It's funny this pic keeps getting posted here, but if it inspires people, that's great.

Is there a point in growing out this hair type naturally? im still new to transitioning with only 2cm of growth and haven't even seen my natural hair before but the curls are extremely tiny and almost coincide.

My mom even burned my scalp when I was three with a relaxer so I have two massive bald spots, one on each temple almost as big as my hand, that wouldn't be covered up if I big chopped immediately

idk, you have to decide that. in all honestly, if I had lots of money and stuff, I'd probably stay in a wig or weave often so that I don't have to fuss much over my natural hair, but thats not an option for me atm, hahaha
frankly, you can't do much of anything when it's super short, so if you wanna grow it out thats fine, but you will have to deal with that period where almost nothing can be accomplished.

For the sake of bumping the thread, I guess I could share an experience.

Some months ago (end of october), I decided to texturize my hair. As my hair grew long and longer, I lost control over it. I couldn't style my hair the way I wanted to anymore... no product seemed to work, so I figured I needed to change the texture of it. Cutting my hair wasn't an option, I knew I wanted more length anyway, so I bought the S-curl texturizer.

The process of texturizing didn't really go that well. We took all necesarry precautions, especially since my skin is rather sensitive, but my scalp started to burn earlier than expected (around 8 minutes in). I washed the texturizer out and the result wasn't that bad actually, apart from a slightly 'burned' scalp. Obviously my hair gained a lot of length (20-30%). It didn't seem to have lost volume at all.

The next two weeks my hair either shrunk or broke off (I think a bit of both). I guess I didn't keep it moist(urized) enough. It didn't go back to it's natural form though and I'm glad it didn't. I still have a visible curl pattern and I found a barber that actually respects my wishes, is fairly cheap and helps me in 'my journey'.

I'm fairly happy with my current hair and I will post a pic soon enough, can't wait till the top has more length though. Having a hard time making sure I don't slow the growing process though (as in, keeping my healthy enough and avoiding breakage), since I don't want to wear a protective hairstyle.

Yes, that's me. I'm still trying to find the right balance when it comes to moisturizing. I don't want my hair to look greasy. Unfortunately, I have become a bit lazy. My hair doesn't seem to grow that fast (nor break) and I don't really mind that, since I have enough length.

I can actually style it the way I planned to style it. It looks professional enough and feels healthy when I run my fingers through it.

Then again, I want to try flat ironing my hair in the future and I know I need more length for it to look good.

Always had short hair. 3 on top with fade to 0.5 is the most ambitious I've gotten. I wanna get hair like Isaiah Rashad, but I literally have no idea how. Are they dreads or twists? Put tea tree oil on your scalp regularly. You have two options. Get the cheap diluted version (it's basically tea tree mixed with carrier oils) or get pure tea tree. The pure stuff is obvs more expensive and stronger. You're gonna have to dilute it with water if you get the pure version. Whichever you get is your preference. I'd start off with the cheap version then go for pure if you want.
