So in regards to the hate towards Invicta in the other thread, what's so bad about them anyway? Watchuseek seems to think they're good at the price, what makes them so outrageously bad compared to a cheaper Orient or Seiko? Aesthetically they look quite nice from the few that I've seen.

Been thinking about copping for a bit now.
Not huge into watches myself, not quite entirely sure of the mechanization of the piece, if anyone could help. inb4 lul /fa/g.

I really enjoy the sunburst design personally, and it seem a nice enough piece to go with most attire- dressy or casual.

that being said the 8926OB and its color variants are really a world apart from most of their offerings. quality seiko movement with hacking/handwinding, crystal is sapphire (the outer layer, at least), bracelet has solid center links, and it's basically the holy grail of modding-friendly watches. pic related

Orient FEMAL001D6 vs Invicta 8928OB, which one would /fa/ choose? Both have japanese movements and are the same price where I live. I know Invicta gets a lot of shit here, but try to repress your hate for a moment and give as objective opinions as possible. Also which one do you think is more aesthetically pleasing? I think that dial is awful, it looks $5 fake Rolex tier, I'd much rather get a steinhart OVM if you want a milsub. The only problem with the OVM is the goofy looking fake patina lume.

Thing is the OVM is 42mm and I want a 40mm (or below) one due to chronical bitchwrist syndrome.

Sterilizing this one wouldn't be super easy with the "Swiss T 25" text and logo on the crown in mind.
Perhaps one could mod the A9 with a custom, sterile or less awful dial? Though that'd still be like 450-500 for a sub homage.. Plus lume-matching would be a pain.

A third option is a discontinued MKII model for like 800$ used.

You don't have any preferences or what? I like my Seiko 007, I got it for like $200 after you include the price of a super oyster bracelet, I don't know how much it costs in yurop though. There's also the orient mako and ray and I think they're a little bit cheaper plus their stock bracelet is actually decent so you don't have to buy an aftermarket one.

The thing is, at the moment I can only have 1 watch, in total, probably for the upcoming year.
That's why a white-faced dress/bauhaus watch is probably my best choice.

These three watches are the sharpest looking watches I could find that don't look like they're $20 and have no personality:

10 years is basically the threshold where things will actually start going wrong.
The inherent accuracy of your movement isn't going to change that much over that period of the time unless you enjoy throwing fingernail clippings into your hairspring. I got a 30 year old vostok running completely dry and without ever having been serviced to run within 20 seconds a day.

So the cheap metal band on my poor man's Grand Seiko is getting all beat up (as is the watch itself), I'm thinking of replacing it entirely with an RAF/NATO strap. I cycle a lot and I've already ruined an SNK809 on the road near my house (it's rough, and dirt, which mechanicals don't seem to like), hence my desire to turn this quartz into a sport watch.

The problem is, I'm having a hell of a time matching it to a band. What goes with this white-and-steel colour scheme? Black, or more of a khaki? I was also thinking of getting a light brown leather NATO to wear it around the office or out to clients.

Do not get a Swiss quartz chrono especially not one that's oversized. There are great quartz chronos, it's just the Nips make them.
If you want Swiss MadeTM though, Tissot and Hamilton are in your range for automatic, especially second hand though you could probably find new for that much, too.
