Prototypes are hard to make unless you have a foot last if you don't know what that is its like a mould for a leg you need to find the correct last to fit the shoe you want to design.
you then work around the last using your chosen material with and create a sole out of EVA using a milling machine.
Prices vary from place to place depending on supply etc.

Not really like I said every place varies. You will be looking at a certain price per metre usually in $ even in EU, I don't know why.
Just think about this though.
Costing for some materials that you would think cost less is incorrect.
Naturally some people think that perforated leather (the leather with air holes) costs less due to material.
However that's incorrect it actually costs more as there are more processes involved in creating the material.

What's working for Lacoste like? How do sneakers look? Futuristic? Classic?

What do you think about LacostexBape?

>> No.9577670

>>9577619
We are talking for a shoe that is roughly £120 around £40 to manufacture. work around there if you like.

>>9577650
They're a pretty chilled bunch. I spoke to all of the lead designers for men's, women's and the overall project manager. They are cool and really open to new fresh ideas but like to keep to the core values of simplistic styling using different materials to create a unique sneaker.

The shoes I designed were inspired by the M85's, Rene classics and the recent catwalk for SS15 taking forward styles to incorporate into the trainers.

BAPE I'm not to sure about Lacoste itself is a very vintage brand. They're whole story is surrounded by the history of Rene and his innovations in tennis etc. From my point of view it seems that they have tried to push the boat out way to hard and way to fast.

£40 to manufacture at scale, I'm talking about a one-off prototype
Just to get the custom soles made would be surely be a couple thousand dollars based on research I've done into machining
Considering all the labor and technical work involved, it seems like it would total thousands of dollars

I'm pretty sure Lacoste were not making ugly mid/high tops in the past which he was referring to as Supras. To restate his question, why is Lacoste deciding to make ugly shoes?

For creativity explanation.

I cant tell you that crap I did not work with sales as much I worked more with design. Although I know that the newer paler sneaks are starting to do well now. They tend to aim those black trashy ones at the lower cost market = higher profit for them. From what I gather most places work on a Good. Better. Best. scenario.
Good makes the most profit, then Better then Best. Its all about profit margins.

>>9577714
You are both right and wrong. For a one off prototype why would a large company spend thousands of dollars on a simple prototype?? Those tooling costs would be for large scale manufacture. For a one off. It would most likely be made using much simpler methods for a low cost prototype to see if its a sneaker that they would want to take forward
