Red Wing Boots

I have a new connection with Red Wing boots here in Minnesota and I can get them for 50% off retail. I need opinions on what styles to go with.

I'm going to buy two pairs, a black and a cherry/brownish color. They will be worn daily and with jeans/chinos and of course out on the town. What models would you recommend?

Are either of these decent for winter? I read that sole on the Iron Rangers are cork and pretty terrible on snow/rain.

Beckmans have lugged sole, iron rangers and blacksmith have cork sole. get beckmans if you need a winter boot

If you want a winter boot get the ice cutters for next winter.
Superlugged and thermally lined.

As for your first Q:
I wouldn't recommend any black boots from them.

I'd get the black cherry beckman (9011)
and the copper rough and tough IR (8115).

Leather only gets darker with age and treatment, not lighter.

Save black boots for something all black and less bulbous.

Ask for a pair of the rare 4572 style, its one of my holy grails.

I live in Minnesota, wedge soles in the winter has never been a problem for me.
