I haven't lived in the UK for almost a year now since I left to go and work somewhere

What are the current fashion and music trends there now?

When I left it was all about huaraches, air max, super skinny jeans and deep house.

Don't be scared to get detailed or specific, I'm genuinely interested. I noticed how much better we are in the UK compared to the countries I've been in at dressing and overall style, even if it is plebby. I've noticed a lot of our trends take a while to spread to the rest of Europe, I'm not joking.

The majority are still on this, though you'll see less air max and more huaraches now. They're about as common as Air Force Ones at this point, it's sort of ridiculous. Wavey garms are still going strong and you can expect to see girls decked out in Adidas, they can't get enough of Superstars.
Don't know about anywhere else but in some parts of London curved brim baseball caps are becoming more popular, along with Air Max 95s though that might be confined to certain areas. Massive parkas with fur are still going strong for both sexes, girls are cuffing as high as they can fucking cuff and everybody is still on short back and sides.

Spain mainly and visited a few other places. I found a job in Spain and speak some Spanish so it's ok for now. People here are starting to dress similar to the UK except they're like 2-4 years behind, so it's only been in the last year or so that I've started to see people wearing Air Max, AF1s, streetwear, short sides and back haircut, etc. An unholy amount of swagfags here, they mainly predominate the youth fashion. Haven't seen a single person wearing Huaraches here which has tempted me into actually wearing them to be more original but just the thought of how many people wear them in the UK turns me off. I have to point out that people are nowhere near as obsessed with image or constantly changing trends like the UK is.

As a city York's not bad at all really, there's loads of bars and clubs. If you want something massive Leeds is an easy train ride away, but I found that I mostly stayed within the city itself.

Yeah I've been offered a place there but the course is more theory based than what I actually wanted to do so until I have a look around it in a few weeks time I'm not sure if it's the right place for me.

My mate goes to the other uni in York and he said there's not much going on and the people aren't his cup of tea. I've always liked York though and the fact it's close to Leeds is a real bonus on account of all the awesome gigs they get. Someone told me the last train back to Leeds is pretty late too which is cool.

I should probably have just worked harder in college though and I could have gone to Leeds anyway.

I'm second year English at Nottingham.
If you like medieval stuff it's good. If like linguistic stuff it's good. If you like modern lit it's limited at first but options widen slightly second year. Apparently it's good for victorian lit but I dropped as much literature as I could this year so I can't speak first hand.

Teaching standard varies wildly from shit to amazing, but there's a lot of qt grils on the course.

I was at UEA like 3 years ago and there was tons of dnb stuff at the Waterfront, whatever Knowhere/Havanas (name seems to have changed like 4 times) is has decent music. There used to be some good nights at Cambridge Junction if you're willing to wait for first trains in the morning (not that hard)

I can tell you right now, everyone that sells vintage clothes brought them at either a carboot sale or charity shop. Go look for yourself that's all we do, then put on a huge mark up and sell it to idiots.

Hampshire and Kent are very similar mostly rural counties. I'm from Southampton and I'm a second year at Kent now. Canterbury is very nice, Southampton is a bit more deprived and ugly, but has more stuff cos more people/bigger. Canterbury has about 40k students living in it though so it caters massively to that demographic.

The campus itself were you live in first year is nice tbh, if you've been there you know what i mean. Venue is the club on campus and there are good selection of bars. Mostly in first year you will pdrink/house party and go venue. Southampton doesn't quite have that atmosphere because its a city campus, being a first year out in campus was great fun.

Canterbury itself is pretty much a tourist/student spot, always frenchie school people getting toured about. It has 3 main clubs and probably 10-15 pubs that cater towards students rather than locals. ie drink deals. Ofc there are also local pubs and weatherspoons if you want something less. Fri/Saturdays are ofc busy at night. 5/7 nights a week are usually pretty busy out and about

Canterbury has all the basic shops/resteraunts/supermarkets/fastfood that you would expect from a small city and as its a young cultural city it has tonnes and tonnes of smaller/independent shops and cafes.

Soton has all of this and more, but its a bigger city and isn't so student based. Do you want more stuff? or do you want a nicer place?

In terms of Uni soton is more regarded/RG but it hasn't improved over years and Kent is climbing. What course are you doing that matters more when the Unis are close.

Overall living in Canterbury will be nicer and more idyllic. Its not a backwater like was suggested. But if you want a bigger city then Soton is probs better. I'd recommend checking out google maps street view to get a better idea.
