Klute is kind of fun if you're a fresher but it gets old fast. There's Loveshack and Wiff Waff which are largely frequented by arseholes, Lloyds which is free and not terrible, Loft and Studio which are middle of the road and Fabio's which is more of a bar with a dancefloor but it's decently fun.

Where are the good spots in Newcastle? I hear things about Digital but it feels very Tiger-Tiger esque whenever I look it up.

Fashion is seriously out of control in the UK. I've lived in 2 other countries and travelled to many more and no one is as obsessed and ridiculous about fashion as the UK is. Every little thing you wear, every detail, is instantly judged and labels you as one thing or another. Nothing feels original or unique anymore, and trends are moving and changing faster than ever.

We were at Digi last night, ha. It's good on a Saturday and Monday (Saturdays are expensive as fuck, at least for me). Both of those nights are guaranteed to be packed. It's very samey week-to-week, but I think it's good to go to every once in a while. It's sort of similar to Tiger, but I'd say it has a younger audience and there's much, much more variation in the music floor-to-floor (dance bottom, indie middle, hip hop top).

As for other recs, I'd say go to Basement at the start of the night. 3 trebbles for £5. It's not real vodka, but it does the job. Mimo is very similar and really close to Digi, so there's good too.

I'd stay away from the gate, unless you want to mix with freshers. Especially stay away from the Gate on weekends, as the locals are out. Same for Tup Tup--very different crowds on the weekend (think geordy shore). Fun fact: Kanye was arrested in Tup Tup before. Sinners is alright though. It's horrible, but still.

I like Cosmic on tuesdays in chinatown. Full of pillheads, but pretty good. Be prepared to see the largest gathering of AF1s you'll ever see in your life.

The O2 Academy's good. I don't really like saturdays, Alpha, but if you're into that kind of music it's great. Dirty Pop on fridays is good. There used to be a pop punk night on sundays, but I think that's cancelled now.

Swingers at Grey's Club on a Thursday is dope. Probably my favourite night.

There are so many places in Newcastle. I've been here 3 years, and I don't think I've scratched the surface.

World Headquarters can be good - they do a night called Audio Asylum if you like house shit. They have another dnb/reggae night called Lively Up on every couple weeks but it's a bit of a sausage fest and the girls that are there are smelly hippies.

Cosmic Ballroom is good on tuesdays if you don't mind everyone gurning all over the place.

The CUT (Above Tup Tup Palace) on Thursdays and Fridays is good, all sorts of bass heavy music - more varied and original than most other nights though the smoking area is about 10 sq ft.

Digital is fine, few different rooms to go to on Saturdays. They often have DJs and events there - they do a good night called Zap!.

Watch out for any events at Warehouse 34(W34). Theres one called Shindig which is a house/techno warehouse party, usually on about once a month. They also do 'Shindig BydayByNight' which is a day party by the quayside followed by various night time parties at different locations.

Greys club is good on thursdays, the club itself is meh but it has a nice smoking terrace with patio warmers and DJs and it's pretty chill.

AVOID: Perdu, Madam Koos, Floritas, Tup Tup Palace, House of Smith, Bijoux, Tiger Tiger. (on given nights EITHER full of Geordie Shore scoop neck wankers or unay 'lads' on agricultural studies courses)
DEFINITELY AVOID: Liquid/LQ (Bouncers are cunts, full of underage geordie shits who will start on you, floor is sticky, toilets smell of sick, people dancing in pig outfits.

Some of the bouncers in the clubs are sound, others not - bouncers at WHQ give no fucks, bouncers at digital will search you/beat you up/demand bribes while you are trying to key in toilets or w/e

Honestly, I don't feel much of a presence. The only stuff that ever catches my eye is on asians. Most people are just 'normal'. The 90s stuff can be really annoying to me depending on how loud the colours are. This girl's always wearing a puffy sport jacket that constantly demands my eye in lectures. That's on the campus, anyway. I see some nice fits walking down grey street often.

Also, if you haven't, go to the two End shops. Always nice to have a look around.

Last time I posted myself, people were saying I had a "classic" aesthetic. I guess I wear a lot of jumpers. That's not entirely the case, as I've been riding the memeochrome train for a while, and have slowly been copping pieces to get off it. Enjoy your minimal contact hours but shit tons of reading. When you get to summative season it will be pretty shit I hear. I'm doing Physics so I've got pretty much the opposite, 20hrs a week of stuff to go to but not much outside that.

Also word of advice, the rush to sign for houses for 2nd year is brutal. Try and sort it out before the end of term 1 but make sure it's with people you definitely get along with. I know a few people who grouped together in a rush and are beginning to hate each other this year.

Heard construction management is a good course at Reading, so nice 1 pal, unfortunatley the only person I know doing it is the epitome of a dapper LAD. Have a module with one of the construction lectures, old guy called Dennis, one of the best sources of banter on campus.

UCL is probably the only respectable and tolerabley normal/fun uni.
LSE/Imperial are very good unis but absolutely not normal and not that much fun nor obviously effay
All the art school type places (Goldsmiths etc) are probably a laugh while you're there but ultimately just a gilded play pen pre-adulthood. a waste of money.
All the super shitty ones like london met or uni of East london or whatever they're called are the end of the world.
