Is it possible to go to a tailor with a suit and say 'can you make me a suit like this, as closely as you possible can'

or is that not a done-thing

>> No.9515458

it's possible but you'd need to find a tailor that can make suits.
also, bespoke suits aren't cheap.

it's perfectly acceptable

just remember the cut of suit you want might not suit you, so it's better to take more of their advice and ask them to do less

they make suits for a living, they know what looks better on you than you do

well the problem i've run into is that I have the perfect jacket, but the trousers got ruined.

Either I need a new suit entirely or if a tailor can do a close match of the trousers to the jacket (its black so it doesn't have to be perfect, just close enough)

also I'm aware that bespoke suits aren't cheap, though I'm planning to get this sort of thing done whilst im travelling to a country where it would be considerably cheaper.

if it's thailand then yes, this is a very common thing to have done (with everything, from bags to furniture - have one expensive item but want two? it can be copied

it's actually better to do it this way in the thai case, as leaving things up to their imagination invariably leads to less than ideal outcomes

creativity in this regard is not something to be encouraged, but asking a half decent thai tailor to copy an existing suit?
best way to go about it

Have had this done at MTM places in America, but you need to be a special customer or else they will give you their house style.

Just went up to Manhattan last Thursday to have a suit "copied" or a similar copy made with slight adjustments, but you need to be very clear and know exacuntly what you want, write it out for the tailor.
