What pants and shoes do I wear with a Navy Blaser and white polo shirt?

I am an autist in regard to fashion but I am going to a smart/casual event with a date.

a polo shirt isn't strictly smart casual. I'm not saying you shouldn't wear it, it obviously depends on what the others will be wearing. If everyone comes in a shirt you'll look out of place in a polo, and the opposite is true too.

The basic smart casual is a shirt (possibly button-down), light grey trousers, a regimental or knit tie (depending on the time of the year) and brown dress shoes (possibly brogue derbys) or loafers (again, depending on the time of the year). You might substitute dress trousers for beige chinos if you ditch the shirt for a polo. I'd keep the somewhat dressier shoes though.
