Visually the film was stylish as fuck, perfectly captured and indulged in the aesthetic of 90s NYC skate culture, something that is still informing streetwear brands today.

It also had an incredibly raw concept, decent soundtrack and a powerful ending.

Look a bit further than the surface when judging if a film is stylish//fa/ or resign immediately.

But if you want something abit more metaphorically meaty you cant go wrong with Ingmar Bergman, Fritz Lang, Tarkovsky...I like all that dreary European cinema, no one does depression-core like the Poles. Kurosawa never cut it for me.

Noir is /fa/ committed to screen for me. Watch the old gangster flicks of the 30's starring Bogart and Cagney, you can see where Yohji and McQueen get their inspo from.

To each his own though, your right about Bronson...Tom Hardy was an absolute madman in that flick. But I think his camera eye is on point with Valhalla Rising and OFG; those films are just a treat to look at. Drive I didn't like so much.

Also liking Tarkovsky, Bergman, and Lang; the forefathers of post modern cinema is bad taste? Is that just because everyone likes them? I'm interested in what your criteria is for good taste my friend.

they can dispute it but in the end it feels like nitpicking and really misses the true artistry and ignores the scope of the works. like herzog's scenes in aguirre of the raging river, he is more concerned with having a dialogue with the poet virgil than following conventions of cinema editing. those are the sort of risks artists need to take instead of just giving people what they want. the mark of a great fashion designer is the ability to show people what they didnt previously know they wanted, someone that makes exactly what you want or expected is just an artisan.
