I'm in fucking love with Terre d'Hermès. Why is it not the official /fa/ perfume?

Because different people have different skin chemistries that are compatible with different scents.

i'm not the fan of it, there are much better fragrances which are half or third the price, even hermes has better fragrances than that, it's just a hyped scent for no good reason

>> No.9431780

Fuck you /fa/ I blind bought this fragrance because everyone seemed to rave it here and it fucking stinks, it has the same smell of rotten oranges, no idea why this scent is so hyped at all.

I'm tempted to wear this as an oblique joke; is it really that terrible?
Nobody near me seems to carry it.

Need to try that. Wearing bleu and my deodorant keeps clashing with it.

to me, and some other people according to reviews I've read, it has this sort of medicinal note to it that's a bit off putting. one review described it as "an old show grinding a baby aspirin into a gravel road", and that doesn't seem too far off. I don't even really get any orange out of it.

>> No.9433309

>>9431827
>terrible

Nah, it's just a meme fragrance. Smells great tho.

It's a classic scent. Something you'd expect to smell in a 1940s bar with men drinking Old Fashions.

Think Mad Men.

It's not modern at all.

>> No.9433957

It's not terrible it's just outdated, and not in a good way.

It's an overwhelming 1980's powerhouse fragrance that everyone got real sick of.

People who are ancient enough to remember it the first time around probably have negative associations with douchebags from that era.

People today rightly recognize it as anachronistic.

1960's Mad-Men era fragrances are things like Vetiver, Habit Rouge, Old Spice, Eau Sauvage, and Canoe by Dana.

Drakkar Noir is pure 80's.

>> No.9434082

I'm not a big fan of Terre d'Hermes. For me, the dry pepper note takes everything over, and I get almost no citrus.

On the rare occasion that I'm in the mood for that sort of fragrance, I've got a cheap bottle of Citrus and Wood which is similar enough.

I actually really liked Terre d'Hermès when I was sampling different fragrances. Everyone who I can in contact with said I smelled like an old man, but I liked it. I smelled it on someone at a Starbucks in NYC, and couldn't remember what scent it was. Anyway, I ended up getting pic related, it's a pretty good winter/night fragrance.

>> No.9434998

Because not everyone likes the same fragrances.

>>9431780
You should test fragrances on your skin until you know your skin and notes you like better.

>>9431811
Blind buying can work if you know and understand how notes interact with your skin.

>>9433243
Wear unscented deodorant

>>9431827
No, it's just dated. It would have been a cool scent to wear if you identified with the young character in Wall Street. You're more likely to find it in drugstores and places like TJ Maxx or Ross.

>>9434981
honestly it depends on the taste of the people around you. I started wearing Tom Ford's Black Orchid when I was 19 and most of my friends liked it on me. One guy said I smelled like an old, Indian man, but his girlfriend (now fiancée, actually) wears Pink Sugar and Marc Jacobs Daisy so it makes sense that he wouldn't like a remotely spicy scent on a woman.

Smells exactly like those cheapo orange gummy bears you buy to me, at least it did on my skin. I noticed a guy who walked past me the other day had it on, it smelt better then. I don't think it's particularly masculine or special though, just really orangey. it's ok, but undeserving of the hype, perhaps it's the brand

>> No.9440643

I got some Terre d'Hermès for christmas, and like it very much. It's pretty intense, a single spray is enough. I also like Dior Homme, it's a little more subtle. Both are pretty mainstream.

Amazon sometimes, most often I'd check eBay for a tester bottle if cheapness is the main factor...of course then you gotta make sure you're not getting scammed, not that that never happens with 3rd party amazon sellers too.

Love terre!! it's very much an acquired scent. You have to smell it on a few occasions before you start figuring out the different tones in it.

my gf hated it at first, she said i smell oranges left in the sun. but now she says it smells like oranges and wood on a summers evening left to dry out. no fucking idea but she digs it now lol.
