Recently I have been very interested in sneakerheads and sneaker culture. I don't want to wear the shoes at all or buy them. It is just an interesting culture to see, and some of the shoes are pretty cool. What do you guys think?

I agree op i appreciate some sneakerhead sneakers. Foamposites are ugly as fuck though. I just want a pair of RO but all these fucking jews are selling it for 5X it retailed for

That is what I think is most interesting. These Chinese made sneakers already retail at 200-350. Then resell for 100-500 more, and people actually pay for it. If you're dropping those kind of bucks on sneakers just buy some Guccis.

They're ghetto status symbols. It's about peacocking to other members in the black community. Real high end clothing wouldn't have the same effect.

>>9400561
They have a herd like mentality and are influenced by people who have shit and gaudy taste in fashion e.g rappers. All of they shoes they tend to buy are shit tier nikes that have been made in a sweat shop for an exorbitant amount of money

Sneaker culture is sort of like collecting baseball cards or any other collector's hobby. It's pretty fun if you like it. Some people may find it hard to understand why someone would like something until you find one of the things they like and can't explain why they like them.
>>9400625
If you're talking about shit like hypebeasts, it's just a derogatory term that makes no sense. "If person who has minority opinion doesn't like X, he says, "People who like X are hypebeasts that only like it because everyone likes X." Then, when he likes something that everyone also likes, he says, "I bought it because I like it, I'm not a hypebeast." It's very similar to when people who only wear t-shirts and cargo shorts call people who wear anything else wannabe niggers or hipsters.

I do understand the collecting part. But paying 500 for a pair of sneakers then never wearing them I just don't get.

It's rarity. The shoes aren't made in huge batches and each design is relatively original and they're a fun product to collect because you can show them off around town. The price goes up because they are desirable for reasons other than the price of raw materials.

Some stamps are worth hundreds of thousands to collectors. Do you complain about how those stamps are only made of cheap paper and not $90k in materials

that's because the game is rigged and you've got to know someone to be able to consistently buy 'hyped' releases that would have resale value

reselling is all about networking. you've got to become friends with store managers at foot lockers and other stores in your area so that you can get first crack at buying a pair or two from each store. you've got to figure out which releases are going to be hyped. and then you either have to have an ebay shop or be willing to consign your merch or sell it piecemeal on craigslist

that being said, if you can do it, it's easy money with good returns. even if you only sell sold-out pairs for like 270 that's still about a 100 dollar profit per pair. i've seen pairs go for thousands.

I feel that these items would be considered very gay if they weren't sneakers.

Sneakers are like a free pass for niggers/douches to wear something fancy and flamboyant.

>> No.9400786

It's not worth collecting. Leather, rubber, foam, etc.
can dry and crack after a while even if you don't use them. Sneakers are meant to be worn.

Fucking this

I have a 13 year old cousin who buys(parents buy) a $200 of sneakers every other week. His collection is probably worth 3 grand and most of them look like shit and have been worn like 3 times.

Also fuck Nike Elite socks
They look terrible

It's really dumb and a waste of money. All sneakerheads are are hypebeasts. Spending lots of money on sneakers that are really ugly just because they're limited or whatever. I know because I used to be a sneakerhead I guess. Some "sneakerhead" tier shoes are good, like jordan 1s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 11s, and some foamposites, but most shoes are just a jumble of colors that don't go well together. The problem is that it is all consumerism. People convinced into buying these hyped up ugly shoes just because they're limited. I bought >pic related just because they were limited, not because they look nice or anything. God forbid if you get a crease on your shoes because then they're not wearable anymore. Oh and buying fake shoes is the cardinal sin of sneakerheads. Because buying $50 fakes of a shoe that resells for over $1000 dollars is somehow hurting the company that doesn't even sell them anymore.

Few questions:

Are nike roshes good everyday shoes?

Are there any reflective ones

who sells it the cheapest

I dont own any athletic type shoes other than white ortholite adidas.

i'm kind of a 'sneakerhead' now but i'm never going out of my way to buy shit i don't like and i don't understand that mentality. jordan 1,3,4,5,6,11 and definitely top tier. and as long as you're wearing them instead of trying to flip, who the fuck cares about fakes.

No they aren't. They are low quality and aren't made to last. Offer no protection from weather, things falling on your feet, etc. Aren't that comfortable because the construction is so cheap. They are overplayed and never looked good to begin with.

There is no reason to buy Roshes in 2015.

>> No.9404196

You'll find that wearing runners like that for every occasion is a pretty bad idea because it's not always the best in terms of silhouette for the rest of your outfit. If you don't give a shit about anything like that though and you just want shoe recs, then I think you'd be better off just buying any one of the roshe derivatives from both nike and adibas.
