normcore is the natural result of a few years of all of the trendy tumblr teens being exposed to old japanese magazine scans and new balances and american apparel 90s shit. compound that with a decade of thrifting being 'in' and the popularity that stuff like rafdidas has achieved (you can't wear those with anything but normcore fits) and everyone is basically forced to dress like a seinfeld extra
