I think this is an example of a conversation pit done wrong, because it lacks the easy in-out that I mentioned in my last post, but shit looks super cosy once you're seated.

I don't get the idea of a "conversation pit" though. It feels... low just because you'll be lower than everything else in the room. Kinda like claustrophobia, but not really. Why not just put the couches and stuff at ground level?

No clue. I dream of building my own home some day so I don't really try to determine market value, because markets change and location is like 80% of the value of a home.

a 3 bedroom home in a nicer area of LA is worth a 2br apartment in a hip area of NYC is worth a 8br home in rural Texas.

It's a bit more grown up than /fa/. /fa/ is more teens/young people wearing baggy black clothes like the modern rappers like Kanye West do, MFA is more for people into adult fashion - practical workwear, business casual etc. I think a lot of people from /fa/ end up on MFA once they hit their mid 20s/get jobs and things.

M.Arch Kansas State, but damn dude Cooper Union nice! I visited your "newish" Morphosis building, but they wouldn't let me walk around.

Pretty good education I'm asuming, since you guys are (were?) like top 10? And you've had what Ban, Libeskind, and Diller+Scofidio as graduates?

I'm hoping to get my phd at Columbia once I graduate and get my license. What patch you headed upon Grad?

Nice! Kansas is supposed to be a really good school.

I like most aspects of Cooper. The morphosis building really isn't as impressive or original as it's made out to be, and architecture students don't spend much time over there anyways. It also helped put the school in a lot of debt.

Besides the end of free tuition, it's probably one of the best schools out there, although I don't think it ever ranks high. Cooper grads are known for being some of the best conceptual thinkers out there (although a lot of them are annoying fucks who think that they're God's gift to the field because they got into Cooper Union).

Right now I'm 4th year and interning at a small firm that mostly does houses and renovation, which is pretty much my speed (although some kids in my class are interning at places like DS+R and Holl architects)

I'm not sure what I'm doing after graduation, I might just stay with my internship or at least in NY, or I might go for my M.Arch at Yale or Columbia (see you there if that's where you end up)

I feel ya, in my opinion most buildings are over hyped in the end. Professors rave about some building being the best thing since the dome on Santa Maria del Fiore and then you go see it and it's like yeah it has nice moments but its just kinda meh.. At least my professors give off that vibe, they make it seem like unless you crafted something memorable like Crown Hall or The Kimbell, then you didn't really make good architecture which is the part of it that really pisses me off.

And I'm in my fourth year as well, but I interned over the summer for a small mountain firm in Colorado that did high end residential (think 7,000+ sq-ft) so I'm headed off the Prague this semester to study abroad.

And if you end up at Columbia and meet someone named Spencer, there's a good chance it'll be me.

you can both style and substance if you make comproises, that said thye consummer market for speakers is dominated by heresay and most people probably just buy what's most accessible to them.
