It's a tool that has many purposes besides violence. Believe it or not it's not just for stabbing people. You can cut all sorts of things. Paper, letters, packages, boxes, rope, string, bags, branches, clothing, seat-belts, fruit. You can repair things. And obviously they look cool so they could be /fa/.
