I don't care that they've been popularized. Most people on reddit and /fa/ don't know how to pull of an outfit. The shoes are good, the shoes exist outside of the stigma.

I can help, i own white vans slip ons and white achilles lows

I've had my CPs for 2 years now and they have been worn a lot. the leather is aged and the sole is worn down a bit, but they still have another 2+ years at least. the sole still has a ton of life left and i could even add a heel guard if i wanted to make them last even longer..essentially for as long as i would want to keep them.

i got my vans at the beginning of this summer, say late june. it's ben about 6 months now and i've worn them pretty hard as well, but the vans uppers (canvas) have some small holes which will rapidly increase in size, the heels are worn to shit and i'd say i could squeeze another 6 months form them until they're basically unwearable. the canvas is also stained so they're no longer really white (not a big deal, but with CPs you could actually keep them looking fairly clean)

i paid ~50 for the vans and ~300 for the CPs. i think it's pretty clear that the CPs are a better value since they look better off the bat and last much longer. that said, i still like my vans and their beat to shit look has its place.
