Your ____ /that ______ looks good on you.
"that colour looks so good on you!"

What a great ______!
"What a great sweater!"
"What great shoes"

I have it easier because I talk to girls and among girls, everything is a superlative or self-deprecating
"your nails look AMAZING"
"your ass looks PERFECT"
"I could NEVER pull off something like that!"
"Tell me the story behind that jacket!"

Likening them to something can work too
Note: "Looking very Courtney Love today" won't work very well. Avoid comparing someone's look to some style icon if you don't know the person

I like your style is better than most, because then you are complementing not only what they wear but their artistic sense. Not to mention "style" can be interpreted differently. It's much more personal than say>>9261939.
Would probably be better for flirting too considering the above.

>> No.9268899

>>9268737
It's completely different though. I'm not saying that is a bad complement by any means. But it is far more formal as far as the diction, also the aspect of "today" like it somehow fits your taste the way the dressed today, but most other days their style doesn't work as well. I was mainly focusing on the aspects of deepening relationships and building rapport, which is in reality the only reason to compliment someone; to show how you have similar taste and become closer. Fromalities are all good, but we all know it'd be strange to call friends by their last name. Same with formal speech. When getting closer, why should you let something like words hinder you? That's the only reason I pointed out "I like your style" vs the others. Simple diction and various positive interpretations of the phrase make it probably the most powerful in building rapport. For the simple fact that the phrase is simple; making it also relatable.
