Yeah NQ in Manc is pretty cool. I rarely see any Hi-Fashun but I think it would look weird in that area. It's mostly mid tier brands if anything.

I'm the OP from the last Brit thread, I think the difference between us and the US is just culture really, we've been subjected to totally different things for years and as a result /fa/ shit here just isn't /fa/ across the water.
I'd say they're a lot edgier than us though, I think fashion here is going backwards, loads of people in the UK still adopt the mod culture as well as styles from the 80's, can't put my finger on why tbh.

Anyway, on boxing I fucked it, copped loads of stuff that wasn't even on sale because I was feeling flush from christmas, (flannels, oxfords, bomber and a parka etc) fuck you, urban outfitters.

Only thing I don't regret buying are my Levi 511's.

Have worked as a sales assistant and postal sorter in the past.

Copped this Raf sweater, a few pairs of Anonymousism socks and Calvin Klein boxers in the sale. I need a decent pair of light suede boots aswell but I can't find any I like.

Soup Kitchenis good. Depends on what music you're in to. Band on the Wall has some decent nights. Antwerp Mansion, Sankeys (depending on who's playing), WHP, Whiskey Jar sometimes has decent bands.

Those clubs you listed are pretty chavy. You want to avoid deansgate/Printworks like the plague. The NQ is probably the best place to go out. Oxford Road/Fallowfield end of you're a student and Spinningfields if you're rich and want to snort cocaine off a high-class escort.

Stay the fuck away from Prince of Wales, everywhere is a dive there. Kartel and Knowhere (or whatever they're called now... near William H Brown) and Karma are alright music-wise, marginally better than PoW clubs. Waterfront if you're a fan of a sweatbox.

Want somewhere to take a date? Last (St. Georges Street) or Last Brasserie (Unthank Road), or Bishop's (up the alley opposite Delaney's/NUA).

Best Chinese in the city? East on Colman, 10% off for students and free delivery for any order over £12. Worth checking out the Lebanese place opposite Debenham's too (it's upstairs and looks like a living room but the food is good).

Quick sandwich in the centre? Clark and Ravenscroft between Pottergate and St. Benedicts. The best sandwiches.

Shopping... Norwich is reputed to be the best place in the UK to shop after London, can't see it myself, but there was a shop on St. Benedicts that had nice cashmere scarves for a very reasonable price, Satollo or something.

UEA campus... fuck the cafe next to the convenience store. Slow and far too bitter coffee. Not even joking go somewhere like Blend or Zest and use the machines. Unio (above the bar) has marginally better coffee. Campus Kitchen is a bargain, freshers look out for when the UEA raised beef goes to slaughter, gorgeous steaks and huge queues for them. Fry up in the morning is dope. They've changed the system from last year... but ALWAYS ask for the full English and swap out any items you don't want, don't forget your coffee and toast included. If you build your own breakfast item by item it is a rip off and you get charged for toast and coffee.

Yeah the nightlife here is shocking, I feel bad for cov/warwick students, it's childs play compared to Manchester, so whenever we're back in the city we just go bar/pub hopping than clubbing, decent places are like quids inn, the phoenix (although if they try and charge you entry for there, tell them to fuck off), whitefriars is pretty old-manny but it's cosy enough

I'm fortunate (in a twisted sense) in that my family is poor af so I'm eligible for max loan, max grant and max bursary from my uni. Min. wage working full time earns around £13k/year before tax. Loan/grant/bursary for me this year totalled just shy of £11k, so basically the same as full time min. wage after tax.

I do genuinely feel bad for those whose parents earn well though, so many friends of mine struggle to get by because parents are earning combined 40-50k+ so they are eligible for the absolute minimum in terms of maintenance, but their parents also don't help out.

Not bragging, just grateful. I don't get all these people (UK) that say they can't afford to go to university. Everyone definitely can.

If I'm honest can understand the need for it.

Everyone is entitled to the same loan amount but the grant/bursary system is what is dictated by the parents income unless you're 25+ or can show you've been self-supporting for 3+ years. If you're neither of those then you're clearly supported by your parents when at home, and so SFE have to assume that will continue when you're at uni. If you're one of those (25+/self supporting) then obviously it's fair enough that your parents' income isn't considered.

The problem is the thresholds are too narrow/low. Some parents may be well off enough to support their child at home and live comfortably but can't afford to support them living in another household altogether. This is where I find a lot of people are at. I think at the moment anyone whose parents earn less than £16k are entitled to the full amount, and IMO that threshold is far too low. Imagine earning £16k - at least half of that is going to be gone on rent/bills, leaving the remainder for food/consumables, travel, supplies, just to fucking get out the house. Not enough for one person, let alone a parent supporting their self and another at home - imagine how much that will be stretched to support someone at uni.

I'm a UEA student and it is a real piss-take to see some of the international students turning up in Lamborghinis etc. though. The look on freshers faces when they see that heading along University Drive is priceless lmao.
