They are better quality denim for sure than levis, but not really by a huge margin so it's really up to personal preference if you should pay for the cut and the slightly better denim.

I'm not sure if this is even answerable but can anyone tell me how to "get into" this kind of thing? I'm talking from how to look at clothes (so factors to consider like silhouette), history (who was good, when, why [why is really what I'm looking for throughout this]), what magazines cover this stuff and provide criticism etc.

Like if I were to get into poetry I would first learn the movements, the main people from them, different types of poem, what to look for in a poem, get a couple anthologies etc.

Starting off by saying that I speak only for myself here, and the statements here are not reflective of the general populous on /fa/.

First you have to be actually interested in it. Yes, you could easily say "why else would I be here, I came here because I like fashion", but we all know that some people come here because they think that dressing themselves is the only reason to like fashion. It's an art and you have to be able to understand that. Sure not everything is going to be great that you see but you know you'll enjoy it when you have those "that is absolutely beautiful" moments. Your taste is what defines when/for what reason you have those moments. You can look at clothes however you want, but if you're not interested, you're not interested.

Looking up any designer you know, reading about them, developing your own personal relationships with them (sadly it will only be on your side as they'll never know who you are).

To find new designers, check out online stores who literally have LISTS of designers.

I guess if there was to be an algorithm since you made , even though fashion is so complex to the point that there can't be one would be this:

Developing a deep interest, finding your own style through online stores and fashion boards, research the designers you enjoy (you'll never stop this), find new designers.

Obviously with fashion, everything is in trends so your style will change as time goes on. This means that the cycle of finding new designers, new things you enjoy, etc... will never stop unless you aren't actually all that interested in fashion.
