Can we talk about glasses? Advice on choosing good frames.

Let me set the record straight. The reason why "nerdy people" wear thick framed glasses is because of the correlation that nerdy people have horrendously bad eyesight and they need them for their thick lenses. I have horrible eyesight that has only gotten worse as I've grown up and my lenses are very thick. It's possible to wear thin frames for somebody like me, but the lenses actually spill out the sides and it looks very ugly. Big frames hide big lenses and make you look more normal. I'm not saying to conform to "hipster" style, find a middle ground. Don't wear thin frames if you have super shit vision, it just looks bad.

Another thing I'd like to bring up. In the picture I uploaded you see two different designs on the nose bridge area, one where it has those padded mount-things (marked as "Pain") and then the second one below where it's just thick plastic that rests on your nose bridge directly (marked as "Comfort"). I don't know about you guys, but those pad-mounts that rest on your nose bridge DO get painful. Have you ever worn those glasses for a day and then taken them off to see red irritated spots on your nose bridge where they dug into your nose all day?

I'm also going to boldly say that the painful padded mount-things are feminine and that men shouldn't be wearing glasses that have them. Men should be sticking with the comfortable style. I think comfort really drives style along too. Looking comfortable is attractive.

I've always had a hard time choosing frames, I'm throwing these ideas out there that you maybe haven't thought of so you don't have to go and choose frames blindly without any thoughts on the subject. Please share your own thoughts.

if you don't have those padded mount things then the glasses will keep slipping down your nose

Thin legs all the way, they look so much better on the face and balance out thick fucking frames.

This is true, but I think it's a small price to pay for comfort and glasses that look better.

I honestly do think you should make fun of men who wear glasses with the pad-mounts, they look feminine if you really think about it.

Hmmm, could you post some pictures to illustrate your opinion?

glasses that can't be adjusted are more likely to be unfortable

Yup. I own a dozen pairs of glasses(Mostly from cheap pakistani/indian online sellers where with the lenses, it comes up to less than $30) and the ones that dont have nose pieces are complete garbage. They slide around, they *CANT* be fitted to your face properly, and the nose rest section is going to look absoultly disgusting if you do commit to wearing them for more than a year.(Nose pieces turn yellow and brittle after absorbing all the oil and grease from your face. They can be replaced for less than $1. If there are no pads, than the frame itself will turn yellow and gross, and cant be replaced or fixed.)

Hey guys hijacking this thread. Is Moscot still effay? My vision has deteriorated to the point where I need something. I feel like now that I'm seeing poors and flyover people wearing these thick black things, and there are knockoffs like warby parker around, maybe I should lean back towards wireframes. But a lot of the wireframes I'm finding look kind of stupid. I want something subtle but not cheap looking.

Should I just get over it and get Moscot?
