/fa/ I'm going for a cut in a week. The problem is that I am fed up with going to the local Super Cuts due to the last few incidents where my hair resulted in utter shit. The last "stylist" looked at me like some sort of idiot for bringing my laptop with detailed images of a specific look. The thought that she was cutting my hair made me slightly uncomfortable . So I'll try again, this type at a much more independent professional salon with men's haircuts running at 20 dollars and up.

Been worried about my hair lately; always had a big forehead. Is it normal to have a part under your scalp? It's not really in the shape of a bald spot, but more so just a curving line under the scalp. I don't think I have a receding hairline or anything, and my mom and her mother have thick hair, and her dad only started losing his hair in his 40s (and still has a lil bit left on top and he's almost 80).

I'm 18, btw.

I think it's just paranoia. I never had any issues with my hair till I got it cut so my forehead was showing, and then I got worried when I read you could lose your hair at a young age. I'm checking with a dermatologist just to be sure, but I'm sure it's nothing. Thanks, anon.

After I get out of the shower, I don't touch it at all. Let it air dry and try to move/touch it as little as possible. Though it is a real bitch because it takes almost 3 hours to be completely dry. It'll usually look good even after a day or two of sleeping on it and not wetting it again.

I had slightly longer hair than this before I cut it. and I went pretty short with that. It was probably just about an inch on the sides and 2 at the top. I dunno how your hair looks right now or what products you use.

I'm not the guy who asked for it wet, but I have the same hair texture. I say do no poo, condition everyday, at that length you can stand to shampoo maybe once a week at most. Focus conditioner towards the ends of your hair where they really curl since the curls need the moisture to look good. As for a style I say grow it out, ditch the side part, and just push it straight back with a little bit of paste or anti-frizz serum, again focusing on the ends so your curls don't look like nasty spaghetti. Also ditching the septum and growing a proper beard would do your face wonders since you've got such a long face, and long hair will only make it look longer.

I just rinse the product out of my hair every day whilst showering. After that if I'm not going anywhere I let it dry naturally, if I am going somewhere I dry blow it and comb it. Works quite well. Can't make any guarantees for you but I've never had issues with dandruff or anything like that.

Keep it blonde it looks gorgeous, there's literally no reason you need to change it IMO.

You definitely could do highlights if you really feel like switching up the color. I feel like something like pic related would look really good on you, although maybe a little less auburn (yes its brown, not red) underneath and more blonde on top.

Other than that I'd say maybe grow it out a bit and maybe even switch up your bangs, they're kind of standard and boring right now, and you'll have gorgeous flowing hair before you know it.

Well, the trick wasn't so much the styling as the "staying". I could make something look nice, but after a few hours, anything that was spiked up starts coming down and looking terrible.

thanks. normally I have a bit more stubble so the cleft isn't as noticeable. and yeah, that's a problem, because i'm thin i did tend to take on a bit more of a meth-addict/sick look. i think i'll have to try and gain a little mass.

main worry is that if it continues to keep receding, as it gets back to a certain point, i'll have to go real short on the cut, almost bald, otherwise it'll look real weird. not sure how completely bald will run for me. hoping my beard's a bit thicker by then.

You misunderstand. Just because you can get it there doesn't mean you're doing it right which is why it won't stay. I used to have this same problem so I tried styling it to the same look in different ways, using different tools, gels and sprays. Which is what I meant by techniques. Everyones hair flows, parts and styles in different ways you just gotta find a way that works for your hair.

at the risk of going typical /fa/, if you've got a thick head of hair, i'd let the top grow out a bit and see how it goes. even if it's puffy, you might be able to style it nicely. tidy up those sideburns though (either yourself or get a hairdresser to. and get them to tidy the sides in general, I guess).

your stubble looks like it's got decent growth too – you could try growing that out while you grow the top? all personal preference here man. at the least though tidy/shorten the sides a bit i think, creates a bit of distinction between them and the top growth.

most i can really recommend is shortening up the back a bit the next cut, looks a bit long there to me. looks like your hair sits pretty flat on top, so i wouldn't take much/anything off the top. not sure short back + sides would suit, but *shortened* to neaten it up would make you look pretty good dude. you've got a thin face, so no point having your hair puff out too far on the sides.

also – not that i can really tell here – but looks like we have similar builds, and i know it ain't the same for everyone, but with a thin face like yours, i'd recommend making sure you take care of your posture. slouches/neck problems for people like us tend to look infinitely worse than for a lot of others (although they're generally bad) and it's something i've learnt the hard way. get the sides/back tidied and make sure you're standing yourself up straight and you'll look great man!
