I like the blue sole that's one.

I also like the very plain look of them. Without the red and blue stripes going down the sides and the big ass converse circle. that's two.

I'm not a fan of the metal eyelets but white converse have the two little rings on the inside and I don't like that. that's three.

yeah i did, there's this vintage store in san jose and they had these black adidas gazelles for 27 bucks. near perfect condition so i bought them. also went to another thrift store with some oldschool white vans and i bought those too for like 10 bucks, replaced the black laces to white and now they're good as new.

I don't have a lot of money so i have to buy used clothes a lot but it isn't a problem most of the time

my Kent Wang's just arrived. They look ok, but aren't super comfortable and the quality isn't great. Don't buy the shit on their website about "a humble modern day haberdasher," their shoes are shit-tier Asian sweatshop quality. The leather cuts aren't great, the rubber sole is poorly cut and uneven in places, and at some seams the leather is discoloured and covered with weird chemicals or glaze or some shit. For almost $100 the quality is worse than my $65 converse. I'd honestly reccomend saving up for some legit CPs or buying used if retail is too expensive.

I don't think AE runs big, but if you are used to wearing Nikes etc they generally run very small. i wear two full sizes bigger in AF1s than my most other shoes. So forget altogether about what you wore in sneakers when buying derbies or dress shoes

also a single shoemaker like AE will still use many different lasts that fit differently; there can be a lot of difference in size even within one brand in different models. so you'll want to figure out the last used in the shoe you like and find out how it fits. or buy from somewhere with a good return policy. don't want to fuck up a shoe purchase this expensive

personally to me it looks like shit most of the time with light faded jeans as well, but that's more subjective.

especially black lace-ups and especially fairly dressy ones like in your picture. those shoes are very out of place. black sneakers or even more casual derby shoes would be a little more forgiving.

navy and black together are for admirals and police officers. you can make everything work in a street wear type of sense but it definitely doesn't look good in the conventional sense.

Well I've never owned or handled Meermin shoes personally so I can't comment on the quality. I'm sure Meermin makes a normal brown derby shoe? My brown go-to lace-up is a pair of Tricker's I got cheaply on sale off eBay. RRP they are pricey though. Look for AE, Alden, Loake, Church, Tricker's stuff like that on eBay for best value maybe.

by the way that outfit the shoes look great obviously. It's with something like jeans and/or sweaters that they start to look out of place in a blazer+jeans type of way. To me anyway.

Yep they are all Loake 1880's. I own 2 pair of shoes from that line and sm pleased with them so so decided to get a pair of boots from them as well.

I'm leaning towards the tan bedale's (top left) although I do really like the fisher in black you're probably right about it not being very versatile.

One more thing, I'm 19 6'4 and 184lbs can I pull these off without looking ridiculous or try hard.

Is this a good cop for $50?

I want a maroon sneaker with a suede/nubuck upper. Not urgent but I'd like to get it in the next couple of months.

Open to other brands like New Balance Classic or Puma runners, not sure which models are best though. Other suggestions welcome as long as it's in the same price range.
