"The look We Want: Dirty, grungy, beat up, rugged, scarred, and still kickin’. This look says “I'll probably sleep in my boots tonight and I'll definitely die in them.” It’s the look of someone who’s had to walk long miles through some unfriendly territory and has some miles left to go...Dramatic? Sure. It’s a dramatic look, full of implied (or overt) strength. Here are a few pictures of fellow MFAers who I’ve seen looking great in this style."

Oh lawdy

V necks are supposed to be under shirts, but of course some group of people decided to dye them and sell them as tees. It's just an annoying fad now with everyone pleb and their dog rocking them now.

all tee shirts were supposed to be underwear, but then edgy kids in the 50's decided to piss off their abusive parents

Yeah least crew necks look okay as a main top. V necks could only really be pulled off otter bodies as a main top. But even land whales wear them. Last v necks are better then those shit bro tanks everyone wears now.

WW2 was in the 40's, m8.

And kids old enough to dress themsleves (teenagers) were alive before WW2, so their parents weren't often WW2 vets.

The kids of WW2 vets were teens and young adults in the 60's.

>Edgy kids in the 50's

Tell me, when was the second world war?

That's right, 1939-1945.

Tell me, which came first, the 2nd World War, or the 1950's?

Now if you were 18 in 1939, how old were you in the 1950's? Das rite, you were in your 30's.

Edgy kids in the 50's were not WW2 vets.

>...in the 1950s after Marlon Brando wore one in A Streetcar Named Desire, finally achieving status as fashionable, stand-alone, outer-wear garments.

Sure, people wore them before the 50's, but it wasn't considered mainstream to do it until the 50's.

Jeans, for example, were the same way. They've been worn since well before the Civil War, but it was the same edge lords in the 50's that made them mainstream in fashion

Lol Americans didn't enter world war 2 til about 1942 and even then their was 18 year olds still being drafted throughout the war. While technically adults many WW2 vets wore crew necks as casual clothing. It was a poor thing to do but it happened and influenced the whole rebellious greaser style.

Yeah, and the discussion mainly has to do with American culture of the 50s ie people wearing crew necks as outerwear. American troops didn't engage in combat til 42, yes pearl harbor happened in December 41. So please btfo.

wait hold up a minute now youre picking hairs and going about this as if your original argument was correct to begin with, which it isnt.

full stop, edgy kids in the 50s werent the factual cause of t-shirts becoming a trend. it was due to their wear by WWII vets and marlon brando. edgy kids were some of the people that adopted the style, but they were far from being the reason it became the trend. i know youre trying to save face, but its ok, you were wrong on an anonymous imageboard; no ones gonna hold it against you. just take the L and move on man
