bros help me find some aesthetically pleasing hiking boots. i'm going on a trip for fall break and need some new boots. i'm preferring form over function so I can wear outside of the outdoors, but obviously would prefer they don't fall apart on me after a few wears. something like pic related--but not with a shitty crepe sole

Those are well worth it. Tread is a little small but they look to be one solid piece. Less stitching and random shit equals ultimate waterproofing.

Fucking don't do this to yourself OP
Good hiking boots are the most important thing to have when you go hiking, you need a pair that is extremely comfortable and good for your feet, you are a goddamn dumbass if you buy a pair to look good.
You will be walking all day in nature, that means uneven as fuck ground and it will kill your feet even WITH really good and comfortable pair of hiking boots.
Fuck you is dumb
Like if you walk a day in a city with old beat up pair of sneakers your feet are gonna hurt. Don't damage your feet to look good in some trail no one is even going to see you

>> No.8966061

>>8962081
wearing /fa/ shit while hiking just lets everyone know you're a fucking casual. Danner is the only brand that makes respectable /fa/ hiking boots if you have to be a fag. Comfort is 100x more important than looks for hiking, unless you want bloody feet.

i'm curious about your implications that it's not possible for a practical hiking boot to be plain and understated.

Before modern boots were invented, did people like John Muir and Meriweather Lewis just always hike with bloody feet?
I suspect that people have been navigating rocks, mountains, and woods for a few hundred years if not literal ages yet they didn't have stuff like >>8962106

If you're going to go full autismo and try to look 'good' while hiking, you might as well do it barefoot. Bring back neaderthalcore

If you want to hike seriously and not be a total fucktard, buy some vasques. If you keep them in good condition they'll last 15 years.

i'm still skeptical..

I've been on day hikes and light backpacking in the sierra nevada, so i'm not 100% clueless. There are definitely slippery cliffs and boulder fields where it would be awful not to have regular hiking boots, but i have done a fair amount of what the average urbanite would probably call 'hiking' where you would be fine in a pair of dunks.

The issue is that 'hiking' really means different things to different people. OP could be talking about like 2hour walk on a dirt path in a park for all we know. pic unrel.

tl;dr I think the necessary footwear really depends on the specific terrain, climate, situation, etc you'll be in

not as functional as an actual hiking boot, but better than a city boot, and you might get some mileage out of it when you aren't hiking too.
