you really think this looks good? or is this site just an elaborate troll to convince autistic young people to dress like ridiculous "goth ninjas"?
honest question.

No, I don't like a lot of proportions here (glove to sleeve to vest[?]), for example. I'm also not a fan of the drape on most of those jerseys. They don't look fine enough and they're scrunching up and not actually draping very well down the torso. Also, there's a lot of extraneous hardware (four aglets for what I assume is two drawstrings) all over the place.

I'd say it's pretty bad, but I give points for effort.

City-dwellers are just mindless collectivists with no real sense of taste or style, but merely copy that which surrounds them. The "differences" among them are only that which laziness or poverty forced upon them.

And yes, I live in a major city.

No, in the same way that not everyone in /mu/ and /lit/ don't all like the same genres. We can generally appreciate it when a look is well-executed (the "I don't like it but I understand why you do" factor) but other than that it's just preference.

what a weird thing to say. Its as if you are saying something isn't real fashion, unless it is completely original. Its not like great designers or stylists aren't influenced by the things around them.

>> No.8931215

>>8931157

I was asking myself the same thing.

They're either using shit like Vans or trying to dress up with Oxford shoes and think that's the "correct" or "proper" way.

It's disgusting. People have no guts to do anything anymore. They never used any Rick Owens or even saw how those shoes look in real life being used by a human being (it looks amazing, even if they look weird and exaggerated in pictures).

People here are stupid and conservative or just a bunch of autistic anime fags.

Honestly, /fa/ is kinda disconnected from reality since I would say 2012. (When gb2leddit started being a huge part of anything not black and drapey. Before hand, they coexisted.

The thing is, what you posted is a p. dead aesthetic around here. It isn't "cool" now. It got played to death, because it was obviously just a trend. There was no real culture for it to hold onto to become a timeless design, and it was too complex to become timeless in the other way.

Goofniggers have funneled into gen streetwear, or given up and started dressing in more approachable ways like palewave or somewhere in between menswear and something else.

The important thing to note is most of these people can and will look ridiculous walking around the street. (you'll also notice most people who were attempting it looked like shit because they didn't have a firm grasp on what they were doing)

Both can coexist though - and there is no reason to hate anyone who wants to dress nxtlevel or just dress better. We are all smart, we don't have to be cunts to each other.

I think goofninja was always p. autistic tho. I'm glad that trend is dead in the water.

I think you raise a fair point about how there ought to be enough room for people to discuss a wide range of brands, designers, styles, and approaches to dressing. I actually think there is more variety than we give people credit for; techwear, "dadgoth" [I hate to use these terms, but it makes it easier to communicate clearly what we're talking about], and comfycore/mori-whatever all get pretty active, enthusiastic threads every time they get posted.

But I would say that your assessment of black and drapey stuff is a bit overblown. I understand that SOME people—who live farther away from metropolitan areas, who don't have huge budgets, who are teenagers—are just starting to discover this stuff and it is certainly having an impact on streetwear and fast fashion brands, but you're not accounting for the fact that most of the brands you're talking about like Yohji and Rick have been around for several decades.

The "funnel" effect into streetwear is just what happens when brands that cater to the mainstream pick up on bits and pieces of what more directional companies do. That's the whole point of having tiers and different price points. If you make $5k jackets, you have the luxury of selling only to early adopters and design-oriented people who embrace and appreciate novel or less standard ideas. When somebody who makes $200 jackets sees those items start to proliferate in markets that are pricier than theirs, they will naturally distill what they can (e.g. black, drape, longer length) and find a way to make it work in the context of their brand to make a case that they are relevant and understand what the contemporary thread is that people are watching for.

Also, if it really were as "dead in the water" as you suggest, then there's no reason the majors and influential retailers would carry it. Sure, prestige counts for something, but if it didn't have an audience, if it didn't drive sales, then there would be no reason to stock the product.

I always see a variety of styles, but I'm usually only in town for business, so that's pretty par for the course.

Part of me thinks that sprawl makes it hard to see the variety of things that you'd see in a more dense city like Chicago or NYC or SF. I mean, those customers are in LA. You can have stores like H. Lorenzo and Sartorialoft stay afloat for as long as they have if the customers didn't exist.

>> No.8933279

I'm sure they are around, I mean I've definitely seen monochrome people around, especially in downtown, but nothing that I'd classify as goofninja. I mean H Lorenzo isn't really goof either, they don't even carry Rick (though its probably because he's exclusive to Maxfield?).
