ITT we make up /fa/ fantasy characters who live in /fa/ fantasy worlds

This one is named Richard. He lives in a minimalist wooden cabin in a forest where its always winter. for shoes he wears hides of caribou and beaver he kills. he's always hunting for meat but when he's not he's wondering what the sun looks like. Maybe it's a post apocalyptic thing and the winter is a nuclear winter, he's an albino so he's a mutant. Techwear is all that's left because wearing clothing outdoors that's not warm and waterproof is suicide. he inherited is blade and rifle from his father.

This guy’s name is Yi, he’s the result of China’s current fingers in africa. Maybe fifty years from now, he’s a young businessman in the diamond country who realizes that he can manipulate local groups into fighting for him with things like heroin and money. He worked himself into a warlord type role, and he now controls the entirety of the diamond trade out of africa. He’s a little better than the old guys who ran that stuff, doesn’t cut off people’s hands, but he’s definitely evil and probably one of the most powerful people on earth. Everything about his clothing is meant to show his wealth, and he’s got a huge harem of women he’s purchased from around the globe and he fucks literally all night long and pops adderall to be awake during the day. emaciated but with a massive cock.

This kid is Jose, he fucks people up. His body is in shambles because he was in a terrible fire that killed his parents but he survived and went on to become one of the greatest hackers of his time. He works for the Brazilian mob, he hacks into diplomats and CEOs computers for them and steals lots of money and information. They try to get him to come outside but he just hides out in basements, throws tantrums when he doesn’t have really nice computers and fast internet. everything about his look is comfort, he has designer prosthetics and a cochlear because the mob is really nice to him and buys him stuff but he prefers to wear only comfortable warm clothes. Pretty sure he’s autistic, which makes him /fa/ on his own. He lives in our current times, but sort of an alternate reality where crime means stealing from the powerful rather than taking advantage of the poor.

Bear with me for a tick: this is kinda crazy man. What is your motivation behind imagining back-stories for fantasy characters and incorporating clothes into them? I just cannot wrap my head around how that idea started or why you seem so interested in it, but I really do want to understand.

but this is kind of where designers work from right is these characters they're meant to be evoking. They're not named to consumers but you honestly think rick doesn't have in his head a fantasy person for whom rick clothes are made? I bet its an ex punk parisian type dude who is completely misunderstood in his photography career and the only way he can stand to look at himself is if he's outwordly expressing his disgust with culture and counterculture. And rick wants to make clothes for him and everyonewho buys him identifies with that aesthetic in one way or another, however they interpret it, and sends him money for shoes and jackets and shit.

Read it; you're not spot on in guessing how Rick thinks of his work* but you're not far off, either.

But at least for me, it's always interesting to see intent. It adds another layer to my reactions, helps clarify and enlighten them.
