Just got rid of a ton of clothes /fa/ and I'm feeling excited to go shopping to start a new wardrobe of my own. I was wondering what stores, for people that don't shop online, you guys to go, or what places you guys are loyal to.
Basically, what is that 1st place you go every time you go to a mall or plan on going shopping?

Pic related

inb4 People tell me to shop online. Personally, I enjoy going out with a couple of friends and making a day out of it at the mall.

Uniqlo just uses sturdier fabrics sometimes. Construction of the clothes isn't any better than h&m and the attention to detail isn't always there.

American apparel is basically h&m tier with the price yanked up to fool people who don't actually know what they're looking for into thinking they're getting a better product because the price is higher than the other basic basics stores.

I've had some dodgy seams, several items without even an attempt at pattern matching, bunchy hems, buttons flimsily sewn on etc.
I feel like because the fabric feels sturdier in a lot of cases compared to a h&m equivalent item people are duped into thinking it's all round better quality, but how the items are actually finished is pretty similar in a lot of cases.

OP here,
Glad to see some varied responses after about a day.
Money isn't necessarily a make or break factor, but I haven't even begun to look at things just because they're designer. H&M's prices are pretty good in my opinion considering everything's 29.95 or 19.95.
Recently I've been looking at Abercrombie just because I really like the materials there and I've managed to find a few designs that I thought look good. I don't have issues with their prices because I've managed to get a bunch of deals there on sales or coupons.

Also, I've never really had any issues with H&M materials, buttons have stayed on, jeans never ripped, etc.

Dude, I'd start with really basic stuff if I were you.

Jeans, should be as versatile as it gets, >>8793614, these are ok. 40$ if you live in the US I'd buy the Levi's, it's almost the same price.

Get some basic tees, single pocket is also ok, and longsleeves if they are relaxed tight. H&M tshirt usually aren't good. You can find much better at a thrift store, by Levi's, Lee, Joop...

Sweaters are a topic of their own, some things you have to pay money for.

Buy tees from Uniqlo if you can, H&M tees are okay but not as good for the price, other things like basic socks and underwear can be bought from these two stores, also button-down shirts- Uniqlo is better quality but H&M shirts fit me better. Sweatshirts are good from either. Buy sweaters somewhere else.

Jeans from Levi's if US, Uniqlo makes acceptable jeans for the price but you should buy denim from an actual denim brand

Shoes I'd say Vans or Nikes are actually okay in some of their more simple designs and muted colours like navy Nike Blazers, black Roshe Runs or black Vans Sk8-His. Mono colour Chucks are pretty decent basics as well. I'd start with a low top pair of sneakers, a high top pair and a pair of casual boots like Doc Martens 1460's or Red Wings depending on your look.

Outerwear is a bit harder but along with shoes a bit more should be spent. Levi's makes nice denim jackets and sometimes H&M etc. have decent basic jackets.

Also thrifting is excellent, especially for shirts, sweaters and outerwear.

Try to buy as simple designs and colours as you can before you decide to experiment.
