It's probably the best approach to something like a smart watch as of yet. But no, I have no idea why I should need that. All it basically does is sparing me from pulling out my iPhone. Although I see how that might be harder now that the iPhone is huge.

They look a LITTLE better with frames, but still goofy as hell.
I saw a guy at IKEA like last year with them. He was trying so hard to be the center of attention, using it as much as possible and flaunting how much he paid whenever someone so much as asked. The thing that got me was how he didn't really seem like a tech person, just a fat balding British tourist dropping $8k on a status icon so people could suck his faux future cock.

Somewhat sour grapes, can't deny that.

It worries me that we as a society now feel the need to have technology this accessible. It is now too slow to pull out the mini computer in your pocket, we need it on our wrist. I'm confused at how and of the apps on the iWatch are necessary. Checking the weather, checking the time in other nations and the movement of the moon in relation to the earth are all things that could be better done with a phone.

This new iWatch feels like a complete money grab by Apple. Think about the lifespan of the average Apple product. An iphone is redundant in 3-4 years or so. If you were to pay $400 for a watch, you would expect it to last you at least 6 years and you would be disappointed if it died before that. The nature of technology means that this iWatch will be a mini paperweight by 6 years and would require you to buy a new one. As if we need a new piece of hardware to replace? You already have to buy a new phone, laptop and desktop in that time and I can't justify the money for a new watch as well.

Stick to a watch that tells you the time and the date. It's simple, reliable and doesn't require you to charge it every 24 hours. For everything else, your life isn't too busy that you cannot pull a phone out of your pocket.

>> No.8781771

>>8781735
True, I did consider this however there are many many pedometers and heart-rate monitors out there that are smaller, lighter and a fraction of the price. I hate running or going to the gym with something on my wrist anyway. Gets all sweaty and if I'm at the gym, I don't want to get my watch caught on equipment.

Nothing but another iPod type of fad. Seems cool for a while since it's a 'new' thing, but then everyone has one and the fad fades away.

>> No.8781835

>>8781775
While I agree that the iWatch is a fad, I would hardly call the iPod a fad. It was simply replaced by the iPhone but the mp3 player capability of the iPhone is still incredibly popular. Just like the GPS isn't a fad, it has just been replaced by phones with GPS capabilities.
