because a real tourbillon is something you only see on 100K watches

it's like the pinnacle of horological craftsmanship and precision. fossil has just copied the look of one

>> No.8678961

>>8678560
A tourbillon puts the balance wheel in a cage that rotates in one or more dimensions as the balance wheel swings back and forth, to, in theory, evenly distribute the force of gravity. They are often displayed on the front of the movement as a sign of haut horology. Since the balance wheel already swings back and forth, it takes an eye familiar with tourbillons to differentiate between open-heart configurations that display the balance wheel and actual tourbillons.

That watch has an open-heart configuration.

I bought it from Manbushijie (you can google it, a very well reputated seller of PAM homages).
About the quality, I can't say anything bad about it, it seems to be a quite well built watch.
It's a PAM 111 hommage so it's completely polished, case and bezel, as the original one and of course, hand winding.
I have to say that it looks way better when you have it in your wrist than in the photos of the web, and all for 79 bucks, including shipping costs. Very happy with the purchase, I recommend it.

This provides a more elegante wear of watches and prevents the crown, or even the whole watch, depending on size, to bury in your hand and obstructs its movility, also, loose watches tend to get more damage over time.

Plus, if you wear the watch above the wrist you have more options regarding size.

are totally different in every way (apart from the material)
>the dial
on this one it's two tone, while none of the SARBS are. The sarbs have the 300 indicators with elevated dial towards the edge though.
>the hands
The SARB hands are wedge formed dauphine hands (and the SS bracelet ones have lume), while those are just flat and boring
>crown guards
this seems to have some, while the SARBs don't
>lugs
The lugs are way longer on all SARBs
>bracelet
this one seems to have folded links, while the metal bracelet SARBs are all solid links with SEL. This is just from what I assume on this one, but I really have no idea and hollow links don't need to be a bad thing.

So it resembles a SARB by having Seiko on it and no numbers?

I'm not that other asshole. I'm a lawyer and over 30 now. Besides the Omega Speedmaster, given to my by my parents and that previously belonged to my dad, my first decent watch was an Oris I bought with my first paycheck in my law practice intership, wen I was 22 already.

hey watchmen of /fa/
I got this watch from my grandfather some years ago, and then managed to break the crown and the axis it is on, and pop the glass off

my question is - do you think it would be worth getting it fixed? I do quite like it, really, even though I do suspect it might be a woman's watch. Its diameter is about 30mm
I'm not sure if it's visible on the picture, apparently it's an Aretta or something

oh and also I apologize so much for the picture quality, was the best I could do at the moment

If it has some sentimental value to you, then sure, get it fixed if you like. With the information you've given, there's not much I can really say. Vintage watches were all much smaller than modern watches so 30mm for a men's watch is not all that strange.
