My favorite drinks are bacardi gold, captain morgan's spiced rum, whiskey, taquila, and cogniac. I can't stand beer. The drink depends on what kind of place you are in, for a lounge a martini (vodka is best) or other strong sip-able drink is most appropriate
For clubs simple drinks are good, stay away from complicated cocktails, but again it depends a bit on the type of club

I don't got to clubs very often, I don't think it's very much fun. When I do go I try to buy a bottle of vodka and some juices / soft drinks to mix and maybe a bottle of Champagne. Cranberry, Soda and Tonic are hard to fuck up. OJ is hit or miss, unless they squeeze it themselves (they don't, lol). You need Redbull's to get turnt. San Pell has to be on deck, because you need to hydrate.

If I don't have enough people for bottle service, vodka & soda/tonic/redbull or scotch on the rocks. Or a beer.

My favorite drink lately, which you definitely can't order at any club, is a Hennessy Old Fashioned with Peychaud's bitters (double). I( drink it on the rocks. It's basically a Sazerac without the Absinth. I like Sazerac's just fine, but sometimes the Absinth is a bit much for me unless there is food involved.

Beer is fine, as long as it is good beer. Here in America craft beer has a firm grip, there is no reason to drink bud/coors/miller/anything 'lite' ever. For those who say beer tastes like shit, stop drinking shit beer. Never drink beer from a green bottle, the sunlight filtering through skunks the beer.

Brown liquor should be drunk at room temperature or higher. Flavors dissipate in cold temperatures, and brown liquors are prized for their flavour. A good brandy warmed up is heavenly in winter.

In the case of whiskey (all whiskey) it should be drunk neat. If it's around 50%/100 proof, cutting with a little water may actually improve the taste, it will cut the bitterness of the alcohol and allow extra flavors to come through, hence the trend of ordering whiskey 'on the rocks'... Once a few rocks have melted, it will become easier to drink, but you're missing out on so much. High proof whiskey with a dash of water is leagues above.

Jameson is infant-tier. It's a triple distilled Irish whiskey. Each distillation removes more flavour. You drink whiskey for the flavour. Stop drinking jameson. Stop mixing your whiskey with coke, sour, fucking anything. Whiskey/water or whiskey/soda (occasionally) are the only /fa/ options.

Whiskey has all the same gravity as wine. Grapes grown in certain regions/climates/altitudes/soils/seasons taste different, and the wine produced from these taste different too. Personal tastes differ from person to person. With whiskey it is all about the water. Kentucky, for example, has many pure sources of water, with many attractive (for the purpose of distilling whiskey) minerals, hence their popularity. Scotland and Ireland are similar, but obviously there are different minerals in their water (among other things, I could go on and on and on).

Eat good food. Know where it came from. Drink good drinks, know where it came from.

Respect alcohol. Know what the fuck you are drinking. Never order a drink if you don't know the ingredients.
