Hello effay. I just got my first pair of Mr. Marten, MD. What's the best way to lace them? I have them in bars right now, but I'd like to get some feedback.

>pic related. Also doc 1460 inspo I guess

The best way to lace a boot is a way that actually fits you. Some people have feet that are taller in the toe area and shit rubs them wrong. Either way, what you have is pretty standard. Bonus tip: Make knots at the end of the lace so that they don't slip down when you loosen them.

This is actually the first time I've gotten actual advice about anything on this board, ever. Thank you

Made a mistake. That lacing is kind of weird. Never seen anyone do boots that way. It's really okay to have the crosses underneath. If you walk around, you don't want to have rubbing, or else you'll bleed and shit. You think you'll be fine, but you won't. However, if you can reasonably tighten them and you feel good, go with that. When you do tie them, usually a square knot is good, then tuck in the rest of it. If not, you can wrap the lace inwards, take it through and wrap it the other way as you tuck it. It's a pretty quick way to tie and your shit won't come loose.

For taller boots, I prefer a criss-cross pattern as opposed to bars.

So take both laces together, and wrap them once around, toward the inside of your leg, then take them under and up when you get to the front, you'll simply slip them from the bottom and upwards to do this. Then wrap them the other way around and tuck the laces as you go along, making sure to get them in there. Your boots will not come undone. Also, make sure to wear good socks. Wool is okay, but synthetic socks are GOAT. Make sure you don't wear them two days in a row. Boots have a nasty habit of growing things in them, and wear foot powder. Sweaty leather is no fun.
