>pic related; M&S brogues (no longer available)

what's "too pricey" for you?

>> No.8657602

I wore Grenson's once, sold them because couldnt feel comfortable in shoes for 200 pounds.

Let's say up to 100 its fine

Buy Grenson on sale from thecorner & mrporter.

>> No.8657625

you can't find nice brogues at that price mate

i don't think you can even find nice-looking new brogues at below ~200. grenson has some nice designs, i have owned a pair. sold them as well, they are not built very well, at least my pair wasn't.

when you get to 400 and up you can expect nice build-quality as well.

this is probably not the response you wanted.

maybe scrounge ebay etc for grenson or even used ones from better makers like trickers and alden etc

Pic brogues were great looking and they were less than 100. ~30 good reviews.
They are not obviously super quality/comfortable but for that price, still wow.

>> No.8657649

is picture related to specifically what you are looking for

black brogues are not as versatile as you might think they are

they don't look good with a lot of jeans for example, especially not with a non-monochrome top. not to me anyway.

if you are investing in a single pair of derbies, they should be brown.

I wear black and white almost exclusively.
Need them for 10-18C, Good/Light rain weather.
With black jeans, white oxford/tee, black mac/ol hazard parka

At least bring yourself up to 175ish. I think you can cop a pair of brogues from Florsheim for around that (especially since they are always on sale)
I just got a pair of McAlisters on ebay tho. Feels fucking great man

k that sounds like a good look

maybe even look at H&M and Zara and stuff like that. i'm sure they've had shoes like that for dirt cheap if you don't care that much about them lasting a long time

then just wait for another paycheck. I sat through wearing square toed shoes for a month or so just to build up a better wardrobe.
Trust me m8. Unless it is vital you need it (considering that you are copping brogues, it can't be that important considering you don't wear brogues to big events) you will survive..
Just sit on ebay and look for nice brands. I just copped some AEs for like 50 bucks a while ago. Shit was so cash.

Alright cheers, that's probably what I should do.
I'm not really in rush but I had bachelor party last week and I was shocked I don't have any smart shoes right now.
I'll hunt for Loake, Grenson, Aldens, Trickers on ebay than.

Whats AE btw?

btw OP if you are specifically looking for that type of black brogue with a contrasting sole, most of the higher-end brands mentioned here don't really make a lot of shoes like that.

like alden/AE. they make more classic designs. at least whenever i see their shoes, i might be wrong.

Clarks has a few brogue designs like that in your price range, look into that

have fun wearing around someone else's foot bacteria and dried sweat particles and other shit
oh, and you'll have to hope that your feet match up with their if they've worn in the cork under the footbed.

save up for something better
don't buy cheap shit to satisfy an immediate want
don't buy shoes with worn in insoles
only buy shoes with obvious minimal signs of wear, the kind where the seller wore them once or twice before finding out they were the wrong size and then decided to sell them

anything beyond that is gross and a waste of cash

>> No.8658532

>>8658341
Don't bother with AE, OP.
You have access to the Northampton makers, the lowest tier of which can be consider by all but the poorest (Loake's 1880's) are already on par with AE's standard, non-cordovan offerings, if not just under, for cheaper. It only goes up from there in quality and price, and surpass AE very quickly.
No need or costly American imports. Shits overpriced by the time you get it past customs.
Good deal if you're in the US, not if you're in the UK.

Doesnt have to be contrasting sole, but I would like the same style. It's ~Grenson Archie look, but archie was 200-250
