The whole cutting your hair yourself thing is bullshit. Unless you're going for something pretty short or punk like a buzzcut or that kind of hy with very long top that's posted so much around here, it's just going to look weird at least.

Take in mind you don't have a good perspective of anything that's not your front, even if you use mirrors, and that you don't know shit about cutting techniques, the way hair behaves, etc.

It's not about being ham-handed, it's the fact that you can't see half of what you're trying to do, and that most people have a dominant hand, so you're likely to fuck up the proportions, versus someone who can see and have equal access to your entire head, with professional experience as well.

1. I cut my own hair,
2. I cut and trim the sides every 2 weeks, the top every 3 (thinning,etc)
3. Because barbers leave it the way i don't want it (sure mine can look like shit sometimes but at least i like it)

Any suggestions for conditioner (and shampoo but I don't shampoo often) that I can find at a place like Sally's or Walgreens or something? Or just something that isn't like 40 bucks a bottle.
I have really thick, coarse, and dry hair. Been using some conditioner without shampooing called "Hairtrition" which is alright but I feel like I could do better than it. Not above ordering or anything, just trying to avoid it since I hate spending 30 bucks a bottle on something like that all the time

I go to a salon cuz a qt works there who gives me a shoulder massage and hair wash in addition to a nice cut.
