what exactly makes common projects superior to alternatives like stan smiths?

>> No.8622677

quality, prestige

>> No.8622683

what makes common projects and stan smiths a superior alternative to converse when they are exactly the same?

>> No.8622686

lmao how are stan smiths even alternatives to CPs?

Common Projects are on a whole other level m8. For one CPs are liked because of their bland minimalist style (no lines, logos, patches etc) and attention to detail.

They're made in Italy from leather by a real cobbler instead of in china by a child.

>> No.8622702

the leather is nicer and they will last longer, they also look different and don't have branding or da 3 stripes (golden ## don't count you can't even see them)

if those things are worth it for you then buy the common projects if not then just buy the stan smiths

buttero are also a nice alternative cheaper than CPs arguably better construction/materials

This.
When I first came to this board I remember posting "lol wtf they look like Converse" but now that I've been here for so long, when you just look at them you really appreciate how nice they look. The leather looks... I Guess "Creamy" is a good term rather than cheap. The toecap is perfect. Not pointyish like Kent Wang, not too round like others.
Really, the proportions are just right. Are they worth retail rice at what is it now, 340?
...no probably not. But they are definitely one of the best sneakers you can own. They are just subtly perfect.

Get magic erasers, they're a little block of white foam that you get a bit wet on one corner and rub off any dirt with, once it gets too dirty just cut off the dirty bit with scissors. I use them on my Achilles and I cleaned up an old pair of Smiths with them, they work great. I've been using the same one for about half a year now and it's still great.

nothing. You're talking about entirely different silhouettes, materials, brands, hype, silhouettes, so on and so forth. Might as well ask what makes the NB CRT300 superior to the Stans. It's all subjective and depends on whether or not you want to pony up for CPs. Objectively judging both sneakers, having owned/compared several pairs, I can tell you that CPs are constructed better and use nicer materials than the vanilla Stan. Collab Stans (Raf or Collete, for instance) use much much nicer leather.
>>8622686
not necessarily. The Margom sole comes from Italy but CPs are unlikely to be 'handcrafted' by a cobbler. More than likely the leather is sourced elsewhere and the parts are assembled in Italy by a sweatshop/team of workers/etc. As long as the product is assembled in Italy you can say that it was "made in Italy".
>>8622719
Clearly you haven't handled either irl
you're missing out on the actual silhouette unique to common projects. furthermore, there's likely different leathers being used. Garment Project sneaker has more lines, heel tab, and cap toe. It looks like the ankle is unpadded. It has waxed laces I guess. Nothing's stopping you from getting Greats brand sneakers ($150ish) over Svennson ($300+) but there are significant differences in each product. if that's impossible for you to discern, you might as well just get the cheapest option
>>8622771
these the Kitsunes? I always liked em but I think the price is too high to justify for a canvas sneaker.
