I spray on wrists, tap once, behind ears and behind knees

And you can't judge houses like that. The scents tend to stand alone. Both have their own great scents and flops. I find CDG makes more interesting ones but you could easily buy a boring CDG scent (some of the Plays for example) or if you chose to get critical of the use of Patchouli you could rule out a lot of CDG.

you're not supposed to smell yourself; after awhile, you get used to it and unconsciously ignore it but others can still smell it. also, all frags drydown to a skin scent eventually and I like those occasional whiffs toward the middle and end of a fragrance's progression. it's like a sudden, fresh breeze.

if that's not what you want, try to get stuff with a strong sillage and projection. be careful though, smelling too strong almost always leaves a terrible impression

Day to day I usually wear 1 Million or Dsquared Rocky Mountain.

Other than that I have a bunch of samples from MDCI, Tom Ford, Atelier Cologne, CDG, Phaedon etc... that I wear on occasion.

The thing I have noticed is the immense disparity between the opinions of /fa/ and of the general public. For instance, if I put on some 1Million I get compliments from a ton of people, but if I put on say MDCI Cuir Garamante then a lot of people will say that it's a perfume for someone older (I am 22).

/fa/ seems to often get trapped in this vicious cycle of shitting on anything remotely popular and as such idealizes things that are exclusive either due to their rarity, relative unpopularity, their price, or all of the above.

Just wear what you like, don't worry about some idiot on the internet calling you a plebeian for using a perfume that isn't $300 per bottle.

I chose this to be my primary scent after trying the other three. Got numerous compliments from both sexes. Green Irish Tweed would be great but I felt it was a bit more older and formal, and Millesime Imperial I really liked but felt that scent was more 'debonair' and required that I wear a flamboyant suit to a fancy dinner, which never happens. I tried looking at other scents, but Aventus just gets me, especially the Pineapple scent. I love Pineapples. Plus, I don't think it's going around too much since it's quite expensive, and not even scent snobs around my area to give me shit about it.

Also, I tried a sample of A*Men Pure Malt once. It was too sweet for me, I felt like someone threw a cupcake at me. But I met this very pretty girl wouldn't stop smelling me, like she would stop and take a whiff every five minutes and was awfully wet down there about it when we fucked, and I guess that's a really really good thing.
