Rick said it himself, while he loves people enjoying his work and forming their own aesthetic using his pieces, he finds some of the more "cosplay" style fits a little silly and alienating. Rick makes clothes that he feels can be worn at any time anywhere. At home, the gym, out to dinner, wherever. His own personal style is very utilitarian in nature as he has said he likes to stick to almost a uniform.

Attaching a tag like this to a specific designer is really dumb. Rick Owens makes Rick Owen's clothing. His aesthetic is so rich at this point that he has essentially created his own aesthetic. Barely comparable to other designers that he is often compared to like yamamoto or demeulemeester (not implying they are inferior).

If you had to sum up his aesthic as briefly as you can it's a combination of luxury, camp glam shit and underbelly subcultures.

His shits are so unique tho that you can't just put a label on it other than "Rick Owens"
