Vintage jaeger le coultre. Extremely fragile. Needs service for a few hundred euros every year.

Jaeger prides them selves on that they a million year old nan doing the work in Zurich or something but by god she is a slow lass.

Got my fathers Longines Evidenza as back-up but that's subject to the same maintenance pickle. That daily struggle. Streber life.

Yeah, it's more than i bargained for. However found it one day rummaging through my house which used to belong to my grandfather. The backplate is inscribed with his name, date and the family crest. You can't really put a price on that - a ' who do you think you are ' moment.

Any good automatic watch, 100m or 200m water resistant to recommend for a girl ? (Strap can be shitty I'll replace it anyway)
I was thinking of a Seiko 5 military (the 100m water resistant model), a Seiko skx 007j or a Seiko skx 013j but I don't know if they'll look good on a woman

you can't go wrong with the seiko ones you mentioned. they are really good.

I recommend trying them at first at a (seiko) store though because the only factor that matters is size and weight for your female wrist and you will never know how it looks and feels if you didn't try them on BEFORE buying.

I got an automatic seiko as well (SNK805K2) but it's not really water resistant. And I know that women love to wear that watch though because of the small size (case diameter 37mm) despite it being a gents watch. so unless the water resistance is an absolute necessity, you could try that one OR you really make sure to try your mentioned seikos first at the store because sending back watches if they don't fit is a pain in the ass.

the one I mentioned is also a bit cheaper than the other models and also comes in blue, black and tan colors.

any decent leather strap watches without date counters

I might get kenneth cole skeleton but its pretty big
maybe a timex weekender?

>> No.8530438

>>8530418
don't know about the KC one but the Weekender usually comes with a nato strap. that is a good watch but people always complain that the timex quartz watches tick really really loud (chronographs for some reason not as much).

>> No.8530570

>>8530392
Thanks for your advices, I'll try them before buying. I wanted to buy the 5 military you mentioned but I noticed it wasn't water resistant so I am hesitating with other models. Water resistance isn't an absolute necessity but I often go to the swimming pool and I don't want my watch to be stolen in my locker so I was thinking about swimming with it.

no problem. you might also want to check out the Orient Mako and Citizen Diver models while you're at it.

Tudor is a very good watch company. Not a bad choice at all considering that they are in many ways re-branded Rolexes that cost a bit less.

As long as you don't mind not having the words, "Rolex" staring back at you every time you look at your watch, you're fine.

Who gives a shit, they're Reddit users.

Look at the watches on Google Images. Most combinations of black faces and brown straps are also tan markings and/or PVD coated or at least brushed stainless. Anon's watch is polished, so regardless of the dial it would look awkward with most brown straps unless you go super dressy strap which will look bad for other reasons. I won't say it can't be done but black is far easier.

What the fuck are you even talking about? You don't know what rebranding means, do you? Because rebranding implys that Rolex made the watches and branded them as Tudor, but they use ETA movements and their cases have nothing to do with Rolex, apart from being similar in style.

>>8529397
I'm really conflicted about Tudor. They have perfect finish and are solid watches all around. It just sucks so much that they are using ETA movements, which can be had for a couple of thousand dollars less.

So in conclusion: They are overpriced as fuck, but are nice watches. At that price point you can get an equally nice watch with a decorated in-house movement though. Wouldn't recommend.

Making something "simple" is actually difficult, and just barring a watch of any features makes it looking cheap.

No offence bro but you are going to school and looking for a watch under 150€, obviously you will have to choose among child watches anyways !

The other anon is right with the cheap casios, although I'd personnaly step up my game a bit and look at Seiko, they have a better finishing in my opinion. They even have automatic watches under the 60€ mark, I'd def consider it too.

so since Casio apparently doesn't have any decent metal case and mineral glass digital watches I took a leap of faith with this one.

arrived yesterday. I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't know that brand before but since they got quite good feedback and since they use miyota, citizen and seiko parts, I figured why not?

it's a good everyday watch. will probably switch for a natostrap though since I never liked the weight of the steel strap much. It's not unreasonably heavy at all though.

has a nice retrofuturistic touch to it.

/fa/ is a split between people that want only looks and people that want both looks and something with at least some horological pedigree. one of the only true majority opinions is that fashion watches are total shit.

personally, i like a watch to have something behind it, but i'm not a snob who believes that you should only buy the best horological pedigree. that and i have my own preferences. i just don't like the look of most journe watches, though i do admire the man and his work. if they work for someone else that is awesome -- the best watch is the one that you truly enjoy.

the other poster has a point, too: boutique watches have a different appeal. especially because you pay both higher prices for the exclusiveness and the servicing.
