Vintage jaeger le coultre. Extremely fragile. Needs service for a few hundred euros every year.

Jaeger prides them selves on that they a million year old nan doing the work in Zurich or something but by god she is a slow lass.

Got my fathers Longines Evidenza as back-up but that's subject to the same maintenance pickle. That daily struggle. Streber life.

I was thinking of a Seiko 5 military (the 100m water resistant model), a Seiko skx 007j or a Seiko skx 013j but I don't know if they'll look good on a woman

you can't go wrong with the seiko ones you mentioned. they are really good.

I recommend trying them at first at a (seiko) store though because the only factor that matters is size and weight for your female wrist and you will never know how it looks and feels if you didn't try them on BEFORE buying.

I got an automatic seiko as well (SNK805K2) but it's not really water resistant. And I know that women love to wear that watch though because of the small size (case diameter 37mm) despite it being a gents watch. so unless the water resistance is an absolute necessity, you could try that one OR you really make sure to try your mentioned seikos first at the store because sending back watches if they don't fit is a pain in the ass.

the one I mentioned is also a bit cheaper than the other models and also comes in blue, black and tan colors.

Thanks for your advices, I'll try them before buying. I wanted to buy the 5 military you mentioned but I noticed it wasn't water resistant so I am hesitating with other models. Tudor is a very good watch company. Not a bad choice at all considering that they are in many ways re-branded Rolexes that cost a bit less.

As long as you don't mind not having the words, "Rolex" staring back at you every time you look at your watch, you're fine.

I'd keep it on the bracelet. Its a brushed finish instead of polished so it won't look good on shiny croc leather. I'd get a light brown and faded, or Cork

Well my first one broke after I dropped it about 2ft. The hands would get stuck at 12 and wouldn't move til I manually wound it. I took it to a watch guy who just loosened the hands, but then they would spin around just by moving my wrist.

So I messaged the seller who replaced it straight away, haven't had any problems with this one after about a year.

This is my cheapest watch. Bought it at a department store for €20. It has the shittiest strap i've ever seen, but the watch itself looks alright. With a new strap, it doesn't look half bad.

I used to have this Skagen watch that I picked up for around $80 but the face cracked and is now busted. Look at the watches on Google Images. Most combinations of black faces and brown straps are also tan markings and/or PVD coated or at least brushed stainless. Anon's watch is polished, so regardless of the dial it would look awkward with most brown straps unless you go super dressy strap which will look bad for other reasons. I won't say it can't be done but black is far easier.

so since Casio apparently doesn't have any decent metal case and mineral glass digital watches I took a leap of faith with this one.

arrived yesterday. I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't know that brand before but since they got quite good feedback and since they use miyota, citizen and seiko parts, I figured why not?

it's a good everyday watch. will probably switch for a natostrap though since I never liked the weight of the steel strap much. It's not unreasonably heavy at all though.

has a nice retrofuturistic touch to it.

I just bought this cheap ass fossil for about 100 bucks.

How much does /fa/ hate me? I thought about buying a nicer one, but then I decided I'll let that be my reward when I get another job with a higher salary. Right now I'm fresh out of college and I'm only making about 40k a year, but I hope to make over 80 within 5 years or so....might be wishful thinking, but we shall see.

Eh, it's nice. Very exclusive and boutique if you're into that, but when it comes down to it, the only tangible qualities it has going for it are the full rose gold plates, the intricate engraving, and the dual barrel design, things that I don't particularly care for.

personally, i like a watch to have something behind it, but i'm not a snob who believes that you should only buy the best horological pedigree. that and i have my own preferences. i just don't like the look of most journe watches, though i do admire the man and his work. if they work for someone else that is awesome -- the best watch is the one that you truly enjoy.

the other poster has a point, too: boutique watches have a different appeal. especially because you pay both higher prices for the exclusiveness and the servicing.
