That's only true if you buy from fashionable brands like Boss etc., and their quality is usually sub-par with glued constructions and questionable materials. From what I've noticed, many brands are starting to go with wider lapels again (thank God).

Just googled it and "high armholes" seems to be the correct term. It is basically what allows for superior mobility compared to lower armholes that are exclusively reserved for cheaper suits.
