I really am thinking of shaving my head again because of my shitty receding hairline, but I need a good haircut idea for my slick backed long hair. Should I go for "short back and sides"? Would that look good with my hairline?

i don't think there's anything wrong with your hairline. it's obviously wet or something in that pic and slicked back so..

i would just cut the sides pretty short but not all the way up to the top, just around the ears and neck (and maybe take a little length off the top -- it's quite long which is normally good but i don't think you have the volume to match) and style it sort of lazily about your forehead or swept up/off it but not at such an extreme pompadour-esque angle. maybe try 'training' your hair in the opposite direction if you find that your hairline is weaker on that side

i definitely dont think you have to give up yet especially if you're not thinning at the crown

i'd probably make use of the dreaded bring in a picture technique in your case. alternatively you could just describe it as a short back and sides but make sure you specify the not-to-the-top requirement, or just tell them to clean it up around the ears and neck but leave the length on the top and around the temples or w/e
