Correct me if I'm wrong, but there have been studies that show that people read on average less text than they did in the past. Like nowadays they'll read something only if it's half as long as they would have before. It's an attention thing, information tends to be in much smaller amounts of text, so people are getting used to reading a lot less. It's not one generation, it's anyone with the a phone or computer, where information is concise and readily available.
